"May you always walk in wild places."
Aconite's history is the history of the clan she helped to create. She hatched from an abandoned egg in the Everbloom Gardens, and led an idyllic, if lonely, early life, wandering the Gardens in search of... something. She wasn't sure what she was looking for until she found it, or rather him, another guardian named Thuban. They recognized they had a connection, he was her charge and the grove they met in was his, and so they remained where they had met. Among the blooming wolfsbane, surrounded by old gnarled oaks, they constructed what would eventually become a real dragon clan. They built burrows, treehouses, and anything else another dragon could want. And other dragons eventually came to join them - first Simmariel, eldest and weariest, then Reaver and Blackwind, fleeing from strife, and still others came, until the two young guardians were the center of a brand new clan. Unfortunately, seasons later, Thuban met his end during an attempt to rid a the territory of a Barkback Boar that had become Shade-infected and a danger to the clan. Aconite stepped up to fill his place, ruling anew all aspects of her clan. She flourished, blessed by the Gladekeeper Herself. Her wings became leaves and her scales bark, reflecting the bounty of the land. She was truly a wonderful Matriarch, able to provide for all she led. Unfortunately, good things rarely last, and her prosperity attracted jealousy, in the form of a Plagueling Shade-witch mirror named Contagion. The fighting between them was so devastating that by the end, there was nothing left of the grove Aconite had called home. She made the hard decision that she had to move the clan's territory for the good of all, and so she led her remaining followers south. She's passed leadership of the clan to her daughter Khione, and has begun to enter a sort of hibernation in the greenhouse gardens. "Aconite is the former leader of Clan Napellus, and currently is one of her daughter's advisers. She always looks for the best in people, but this often leads her to be a little too trusting. Aconite has a very warm and caring personality, and is always ready to give advice to anyone who asks. She's very fond of the clan's hatchlings, whom she calls 'sprouts.' " "She took the move to Ice hard, believing that it was her fault in the first place to allow such a battle as the one that ripped apart our former home. The disastrous clash with the Wintermane herd only served to worsen her state. After ceding leadership to her daughter Khione, she spends most of her time in the greenhouse and the atrium, caring to the saplings that we brought with us, encouraging them to grow. She's gotten slower as of late, the bark of her scales growing thicker and the branches that once formed her wings now beginning to grow in shapes of their own devising. I fear the blessing of the Gladekeeper is taking its toll on her, and she's becoming more... tree-ish."
