As the Plaguebringer churned the grotesque contents of the Wyrmwound, she felt a bump in her path, and proceeded to fish it out. When she held up the foreign object, she didn't find a clump of hardened pus, no - but a hatchling, born from the cauldron of disease itself. Her own creation. A son. Shaking off the bacteria-infested liquid from his scales, the hatchling opened his eyes and smiled at her, opening his maw and speaking in a soft, unusually calm tone. "Hello, mother" Balthazar is the two-tailed leader and founder of the Kaldaarin clan, forming it shortly after he set off and found an abandoned castle that lay at waste in the depths of the boneyard, deciding that this ruin was to be his new home. Not long after beginning to rebuild the castle did Balthazar encounter Mata as a young hatchling on her own, clinging to her pearl and shivering from the cold. Sensing that this dragoness was a gift from the Diseased One, Balthazar took her back to the castle, where they both worked on their new home. 
Balthazar is a rather cruel and vain dragon, thinking highly of himself at all times. He knows he's the best and strongest around, and will not hesitate to enforce his strength when others doubt him. His teeth and claws are his preferred weapons, along with the extra tail he gained from his birth in the Wyrmwound, tightly gripping his foes with both tails to restrict movement while he attacks. He enjoys watching his clan grow in both strength and ferocity, and therefor spreading the Plaguebringer's influence.
Despite his negative attitude towards all non-clan members, Balthazar is a dedicated and consistent leader, knowing that the clan can only run and develop through the means of trust. All of the higher-ranking dragons trust him completely, and know that without Balthazar, the members of Bloodmane Castle are sure to be in danger of harm. There is great distrust between him and the rival clans. Even though they share the same flight affinity, Balthazar proves that his clan is the dominant clan, and looks down on those who have less power than he. His mane grows ever darker with age and corruption, but his sanity is still very much intact. |
