Biography
Aiolos
Warrior Prince | Trainer |
History
Aiolos is the Prince of a far away Wind clan. Or at least, he was until his origin clan was blasted from the face of Sornieth during a war. He still carries his title with pride though, and declines pity from anyone.
He had been born atop one of the highest ridges of the Reedcleft Ascent. Other clans might have looked down upon the Ascent as a place to forge a Clan-Kingdom, but not so Aiolos' ancestors. They formed their reed city with care, ruling over their area of the Ascent with pride and a reasonable but iron claw. His parents, mother one of a long line of royal blood, fully expected him to take over the kingdom when he was of age and they were gone.
Ai, as he preferred to be called, didn't want that. His sense of adventure had been strong ever since he was a hatchling. He loved exploring his clan's territory and wished to become a strong warrior one day. The heavy jewels and fancy silks his parents tried to get him to wear were cast aside in favor of a simple sword and gladiator's garb.
The Prince-in-waiting ran away once he'd secretly amassed the skills necessary to survive in the world. They were pitifully weak compared to even those of the youngest of the palace guards, but he was able to protect his life and that's what mattered most to him. He took off one night, the first new moon of summer that year, and never looked back. His training was completed under a teacher within the Twisting Crescendo- Ai felt that if he could master his senses while being tossed about by a powerful whirlwind, he would be able to take on anything.
Eventually Ai left the Windswept Plateau. He was constantly afraid that someone would recognize him and drag him back home to quiet halls and stifling silks. He needed to move further. One day while flying over the Sea, he happened upon Shard and Valmai on patrol, surrounded and outnumbered by a school of rage-driven Maren. After helping them out of the situation they offered him a place to stay for the night and he ended up never leaving.
Teleri told him of the fate of his family. One night, Ai had gotten nostalgic while on patrol. Looking up at the moon had reminded him of his midnight training sessions back home, and he wondered how everyone was doing. It was with gentle words the Seer told him nothing but blackened ashes remained of his home. His parents, everyone in his home clan, were gone. Ai retreated to his cavern for days, lashing out at anyone who dared come near him. He emerged quieter and more solemn after a week of fasting.
Now he wears green silks and peridot jewelry in memory of his parents. Serakem and the rest of his new clan know of his origins but don't bring it up out of respect. Each year on the first new moon of the summer, Ai flies alone to where the Windswept Plateau meets the Sea and stands vigil for his lost family. He's slowly moving on from the knowledge of their deaths and prefers to focus on the brighter things in life.
