Tanit

Once a mighty Guardian dragon, this queen of the clan had done what all Guardian dragons must do when they turn of age. She went on a quest to find her charge. She searched for many years before she encountered a strange orange and black fae, adorned in the skulls of birds. He called himself Jack, and they hit it off right away.

They settled down within Crystalspine Reaches, forming a small clan of castaways. Dragons that weren't considered incredibly attractive gathered here, as well as a few dragons with rather unsavory pasts. Tanit didn't care, for she had found her charge as matriarch of the clan. This was what she had been born to do, to take care of these dragons with nowhere else to go.

It was then that one day a snapper appeared to the clan, covered in a feathered cape and joined by dozens of birds. She spoke of magic that Tanit had never heard of before, of a scroll that could change the form of whomever read from it. Curious but hesitant, she felt it was her duty to her clan to see what kind of magic it was that the snapper talked about. And so she was given a scroll and told of its rules.

She thought it over carefully. The Guardian was hesitant, but if it was something good for the clan, then she had to try. So reading from the scroll, the Guardian changed. Her body got smaller and her scales turned soft. Her large leathery wings became feathered, and before she could blink she was no longer a Guardian at all, but a snake-like Coatl. It was strange, but she no longer felt the pull of her charge, and this made her despair, for she had been connected to her charge of taking care of the clan for so long.

But her clan still stood beside her, encouraging her as their leader. And with this new change of form, she decided that a change in scenery was in order. She was an arcane dragon, however no longer did she enjoy the humming of magic. Now her clan resides in The Southern Icefield, adapting slowly to the Frigid Floes.

It was some time after moving that she started losing her eyesight. It was gradual, but soon enough she could hardly see any solid shapes. Glasses corrected the problem for a short time, but not even they could keep her from losing her eyesight entirely. Once a brilliant pink hue, both eyes have been stained with white from the cold. Val has attributed it as a side effect to the leader's latent magical ability, acting like a sponge when immersed in the magic of other flights for long periods of time.
