Found as a hatchling by The Menagerie’s matriarch Tanit, Shesha was raised in anticipation that he would one day take over the clan as the next leader. This was hardly interesting to the young coatl, but he did as he was told when asked of it by his mentor. In his free time, he would stay up late and study the stars, interested in their locations in the sky and how they changed from night to night. He would map their movement, make constellations, and just gaze upon them for his own enjoyment.

Meanwhile, Tanit would attempt to teach him how to be a seer, to access his magic and use it to view the future. But it happened that he had no magical ability for the art. Needing to find some use for the suddenly useless child she had taken in, the coatl woman started looking into a possible political marriage between her apprentice and the leader or leader’s apprentice of a different clan.

It was then that on a trip to one of the clan’s allies, Wayfarer’s Haven, that Shesha happened to overexert himself and fall faint into the arms of the leader’s apprentice healer, Niru. For Shesha, it was love at first sight, and their relationship soon blossomed into love on both sides. They would spend quiet days together, with Shesha working on his star maps or just watching Niru work, and had nightly dates where they would just stargaze (although these dates soon turned intimate in nature).

Tanit is pleased with this turn of events, and if her visions have anything to say, it’s that this newfound romance is the key to unlocking her protege’s abilities.
