When she first founded the clan, Eris was a free-spirited mage who loved to learn spells, fight hard and help other dragons. This combination led to her creating Clan Demonspite side by side with Coeus. She wanted it to be a place where dragons who couldn't or wouldn't fit anywhere else to be able to stay in safety. After creating the first few homes, Eris had spent days perfecting the protective charms around their home, not wanting any unexpected attacks. The clan soon filled with misfits and oddballs, everyone finding a place. After some time, she decided that to be the most effective leader she could be, she couldn't continue her romantic relationship with Coeus. Having borne six children together, it was a difficult choice to make, but in the end she chose her clan over her mate. This led to Coeus finding another girl, a tundra named Kalestryx, whom he loved very much. Eris eventually became used to Kalestryx, but something in her hardened from then on. The clan became a lot more utilitarian for a while in its design and its power structure, while Eris tried to get over her heartbreak. Over the years, she softened again, letting a few dragons stay even though they had little benefit to the well-being of their home. She became a more benevolent leader and created a council of other dragons to help her make decisions. The next time she was challenged was during a small revolution within the clan, where a fae named Pandora objected to the heavy arcane focus of their ways. This led to a dual power system, with her and Pandora at the top. Eris still mostly takes care of all of the business, but Pandora advises her and keeps the elemental balance of the clan. As well as this, there is now a box where dragons can put their opinions about the ruling of the clan. Now, Eris is an incredibly powerful mage. She has some fighting experience, enough to defend herself, and her knowledge of spells is unparalleled. She knows her small size can cause her to be overlooked or easily fought off, so she has amassed an armoury of defensive and offensive spells (as well as a small amount of mind control). Nobody in the clan feels threatened by her power, though, since they know she's only amassing it to protect them and serve the Arcanist. TO ADD The cursed bloodline: after she saw Coeus have hatchlings she wanted some of her own again and began to long for a family. Asteria told her that if she laid a nest, that her descendants would be cursed, but she ignored his warnings and had Dasos. The curse took some time to become apparent, but it was disastrous—Eris' arcane magic was hereditary, and grew with each generation, to uncontrollable heights. It acts like a snowball going down a hill, becoming more powerful and destructive with each generation. Eris - Dasos - Dysnomia - Onoril - Niera The turning point: as she continued to amass power, she grew more and more unstable. The clan moving to a new location was also hugely stressful, with all the protective wards she put up to make sure they were safe (one of these involved the Crystalspine gem and its guardian, which guarded the clan but drained her energy the longer it stayed). This led to a total collapse and her having to make the difficult decision of giving up her magic in order to survive. She's now shakily getting back on her feet as a leader. Viz: the way she had to give up her magic was by channelling it, and the huge concentration of magic created an egg. The hatchling that came from it was Viz, immortal with a perfect memory and the ability to see potential futures.
