Requiem for the Day

Dusk - a time of transition and partings in the City of Lamps. The time of closing up shops, lighting lanterns in doorways, and trading fare-well blessings with neighbors to ward against the long night. The longer one lives in Val-ar-Aion, the more one notices the peculiar sense of kinship in that liminal hour before lights-out.

Yet not all who live here fear the night. For some, it is a time of peace, where creativity blooms beneath the gloaming lanterns. It is here that Jedeiah comes to life: as shadow falls, a mournful tune swells up amidst the emptying streets. Though the ancient language is lost upon the listener, the longing in each note remains ineffable: a requiem for the closing of day.
