B I O G R A P H Y

______ It was another chilly night in the Shifting Expanse. The desert was often scorching throughout the day before dropping to near-freezing after the sun set. But there was a time between, when dragons could warm up before starting work.Kenta huffed as his legs carried him up the steep incline that was a low-lying mesa. There were no other monoliths in sight as he approached the summit. The stars twinkled softly above his as the black indiscernibly faded into a dark grey. Finally, Kenta reached the flat zenith. His breath fogged in the air, claws clicking a staccato as he approached the eastern edge. Below, the mesa dropped in a sheer cliff, almost as if a giant knife had taken to the stone as if it were butter.His purple eyes gazed over the sandy lands below, other distant clans barely visible in the dimness. Finally, Kenta turned his eyes to the distant horizon. His pupils became narrow as he gathered his focus, golden apparel fluttering in a soft breeze that carried the scent of dew and sand.

______ "Lord," he began, "I stand here before your birthplace as your priest. Where you rise everyday, before fading from this world. I stand here as your beacon, your guide and your protector. From here, I beckon."Lord of Warmth. Lord of Heat and Master of this world. I beckon you to grace us. Grace us with your presence." Kenta's tone turned joyous, his volume rising as pink began to streak from the sea before him."Grace us Lord! Bring to us your might and grace and let all rejoice in your warmth! We shall work harder than ever. We will work harder. For our deities and for you, lest your wrath burn these sands and our scales!"Kenta had begun to run out of breath, orange inching its way into the sky. The clans below had begun to rouse at her proclamations. "Grace us Lord! Let your light wash over us and bring us to glory!"Then suddenly, the land was bathed in the most pure light, making the sands appear as if they were liquid gold. "Thank you, Lord." Kenta dropped her voice to its normal rasp. He clasped his hands together and bowed to the rising sun.He gazed silently into the light for a few more minutes, before turning and heading back down the grey mesa.
