Not much has ever been known of Swiftwings. The deities themselves never spoke of the lost breed. The dragons of today only found out about their supposed past existence in old, old drawings on cave walls, and in ancient tales rarely spoken. As such, this scant evidence left a large amount of room for speculation. Some scholars thought that they had been the Plaguebringer's or the Flamecaller's first children, before the deities deemed them to be flawed and wiped the slate clean. Some others even speculated that Swiftwings originated from the Second Age; That they had lived alongside the beings that inhabited the land in the deity's slumber, and had been wiped out in the reactor explosion. But they were all pretty certain they were dead and gone.

Saghyt's egg hatched on the boundary between the Wandering Contagion and the Abiding Boneyard, alone with no dragons in sight. To this day she still has no idea where she came from or how she got there. She wandered around for days, finding out what was good for her to eat and what wasn't. The majority of her early-life diet was made up of rats, flies (mostly tachinid), and glass minnows. But it wasn't long before a single fever fly turned her life upside down.

Too young to use her big wings for flying, Saghyt could only stump along the ground at an infuriatingly slow pace, and her soaring fever made her even slower. Before the fever, she had always been wary of other dragons, and tried to avoid them. But after, she had no choice.

She was quickly bundled up by a nearby clan, who treated her as an object to be studied. But word got out that there was a living, breathing Swiftwing in the clan, and this started a chain of thefts, breakouts and murders as dragons tried to 'own' her. Along the way she sometimes managed to use her incredible speed to get out, as one of the nicer clans that were trying to save her and treat her as a dragon had taught her to fly and gave a her a name.

Soon she had honed her flying skills enough that she could outfly most dragons that were after her. Now free but wary of dragons, she lives with Nocturnis's Clan in the Tangled Woods where some of her pursuers dare not go, and the ones that do get lost and lead astray with the help of Nocturnis's regular tricksters patrollers. She is incredibly grateful but doesn't speak much as she gets used to her new home.
