vermouth's peers would perhaps find him more attractive if he weren't such a mouth-breather. one can get over the vacant stare and the scent of ever-burning flesh, but the way each inhale and exhale whistles through the exposed ridges of his skeletal face is just repulsive. truth be told, this mute, lumbering, newly homeless forest god is a complete waste of perfect bone structure.

(caieta claims that she allows vermouth to reside within the warren out of sheer curiosity; she's an enchantress by trade and a necromancer by happy accident—of course she wants to study how a forest god clings to life after his home, his only tether to this world, has been scorched to the ground.)

(callan tells a different story. he alleges that vermouth appeared in caieta's office, dead-eyed and trailing smoke, bearing a completed tenant application, an exorbitant security deposit, and five years' rent upfront. world-renowned sorceress or not, caieta could not say no to that kind of money.)
