Biography
So I bought the then-nameless Moxa as a mate for Nyo, so they could make pretty-ugly eye burning babies together. Nyo is very loosely inspired by the Greek god Dionysus, so I thought I could maybe base her concept off Dionysus's wife/consort (Greek mythology is big on pairing people up, so I was confident that such a character would exist).
Now, Dionysus's consort is normally Ariadne - maybe the person who led Theseus out of the Minotaur's maze, maybe not? There wasn't a lot there on her. However, I did discover the wikipedia disambiguation page for Ariadne.
Turns out Ariadne is the name of a psychedelic drug discovered by known self-testing mad scientist Alexander Shulgin. Thinking that Shulgin's experimentation was very much in the spirit of my clan of mad scientists, I named Moxa after his Ariadne - dimoxamine.
