Out of the three long-term prisoners of the clan, Erca is by far the most deserving of fear. The only side of her they have ever seen is cold and calculating. Her eyes are too sharp, words too measured, and she holds an unmistakable air of malice towards Coillenidus, always. Her intent is by no means unclear. She is careful never to reveal too much in her scattered discussions with her captors, either about herself or her home clan, and always seems to turn the questioning around on the dragons who speak with her. To keep her from learning too much in this way, free interaction is absolutely forbidden.
The clan knows precious little about her as a result, and so assume that the hard personality she presents is her only true self. They know that she is considerably competent in the construction and operation of magitech. This is evidenced by the fearsome set of serrated, robotic limbs she'd once torn through their warriors with - the same set that lays inactive and partially disassembled in further chambers of the lair. They know that she can dig new tunnels efficiently, and conscript her to do so on the regular while restraining her at night, lashing thick, immobilizing roots around her limbs like especially unyielding chains. This is something they learned to do after she almost forced her way to freedom, flinging her meant-to-be guards bodily away from herself on her way to the surface.
A handful also know that, given the range of movement to do so, she often clumps her excavated dirt into a pile close to her own size at night, huddling against it like the last dying embers in a winter storm before allowing herself to sleep.
She has routinely informed them that she is going to escape. That it's inevitable. She always says it in as casual a tone they've ever heard from her, no falter or uncertainty in her words, and each time, they routinely dismiss her. To the few who watch her closest, however, these nonchalant announcements are the most frightening thing of all. The few who watch closest know something the rest of Coillenidus does not, and watch all the closer for it.
For you see, her escape is inevitable. The last terrible thing that they know to be true? For in all her time imprisoned in the clan, for every conversation and calculation and judgement, Erca has never, not once, been wrong.
