CrownOfThorns was born, and still is, a lover and a fighter. His parents are gatekeepers of the BlackFlames Clan, and placed love equal to their guardianship. Thorns was taught to fight from his youth, and his strength was unmatched by many of the guards. But he was bored, and desired for a life outside of being a mere gatekeeper. He wanted fame, glory, and honor, so he gambled with life and used a Guardian scroll. He found himself compelled to the Search and quickly packed up for adventure. That adventure lead him to Fallen Star Fort, to his Charge, SeaQueen, and his mate, BlackGhost.

He learned many hard lessons at Fallen Star Fort, his naivety, arrogance, and flirtatious nature causing many sand bars to his waves. He is still brave and reckless with a tendency to speak his mind, but time and training has tempered the bad and honed the good. His abilities lie more towards physical combat, be it trident or claw to claw combat. He does not have the speed of his mate, but he does have levels of endurance and determination to match. The pair does share one similar talent, that is the ability to speak mind to mind with one another and after their bonding with SeaQueen it is an ability they shared with their Charge.

CrownOfThorns 's magic is weak, barely holding up in strong sunlight. However, he can use a few shadow hiding spells and control the roses that cover his scales- and their poison coated thorns. The poison is a mild one, causing persistent bleeding for a period of time, but a weakened fighter is soon a dead fighter in battle. He was taught the Longneck language by his friend Pema, a Longneck Mender from Fallen Star Fort- though he finds it easier to understand than to speak. Because he cannot use advanced magic like his mate, he keeps up with his Charge’s travel via a large Hawksbill Goliath.
