Biography
The Assassin
#28
As Sinta was scouting out in the far reaches of her tribe's territory during the dark twilight hours when everything is grey and unreal. She shivered as she walked through thick fog. Why do we even bother to keep this section of plains? She wondered. There is something dark about this place, not to mention that it is of no use to our clan! She paced a bit further, shaking droplets of water from her wings. The mist stuck to her feathers and made her rather vulnerable, and unable to fly. She hated that feeling of helplessness. Then something tingled at the back of her skull. She snorted and shook her head as the tingling turned to a dull throb. She turned her head as a wispy trail came into focus, leading off into the darkness. She snorted and carefully walked after it, almost subconsciously. She walked forward when the ground disappeared and she was left beating her wings frantically as they dragged her down from the weight of water on them. Her foot connected with the ground and she dropped down onto a lower plateau. She shook her wings again and looked around. Sure enough, there it was. The red trail led back, in the little nook between the two plateaus. She walked to it cautiously as she saw it. A Nocturne egg lay there, without any apparent guardians. She stepped closer and picked it up gently. It shook gently and a crack opened on the surface. Sinta jumped back, but held on. She put it down and looked around frantically. She didn't know what to do with a hatchling! She never wanted any children. She inspected the egg carefully. Another crack opened and it shook more violently. She watched as the shell splintered and a red hatchling with purple wings clambered out. It shivered, no, he shivered in the cold air and Sinta picked up the little dragon. That's when she realized the red trail swept around him, and that his scent was somehow familiar. He opened his eyes, which matched Sinta's perfectly. Sinta gasped, and in a moment of panic wondered about whether to just let him die or take him. Then she remembered how she was abandoned and decided that there is no way she was going to let that happen to him. She tucked him gently against her chest and padded back through the mists into the clan bamboo caves.
