Olivia had a goal. A mission. She wanted the favor of the gods. Highly unlikely, for someone like her. She was not the kind her diety would ever favor. Perhaps if she had been born lightning, but she had not. And so, she would not gain favor. So, she would steal it. There were rumored to be artifacts, crafted by the gods themselves. All had been hidden away. For a time, Olivia had believed that she had found the Tidelord’s trident, but it slipped out of her grasp. So, Olivia kept looking. She worked ever electronic she could, every database, every terminal. And found nothing.

Untill she did. A tiny blip, a few dragons in a certain area knowing things they shouldn’t. It sounded like the Arcaneist’s artifact.

So, she looked deeper, studied the region, and finally found it. A base deep underground. Very technological. Very advanced. Very hackable. Unfortunately, there were also flesh and blood guards. They were not hackable.

She’d need help. After searching, Olivia found the perfect candidate. They weren’t easy to track down, not at all, but Olivia managed. She left them instructions. Then she started preparing. She would have to shut down all the building’s defenses quietly.

At the end of the week, she was confident that her temporary partner wouldn’t die. And so the plan

was set in motion. Olivia delivered to the other a way to communicate before proceeding back to her base. She still hadn’t gotten through the last layer, but she was confident that she would by the time Gabriel got there.

She was wrong. When he took the orb, it activated hundreds of traps.

None of which touched Gabriel. Not a single one. Upon leaving the place, he didn’t stop, didn’t go to the meeting place, and Olivia panicked. She asked him where he thought he was going. He said that she’d just have to follow and see.
