Surtr, though young, is actually an old soul, and one of the most responsible dragons in the clan. Due to this, she is heavily looked up to, and has assumed a strong leadership position within the pack.
Although she is a fierce fighter, she plays a double role in battle and is the best healer the clan has. It is often joked that she would have been more aptly named as Suture than Surtr, but only UniLastborn can get away with calling her that.

Surtr was sent to auction as a hatchling, and though she has met her siblings, they are not close and do not communicate; even out of base politeness. Her clan is her family and she has a fierce protective nature of everyone in it, but she's certainly no one's mother, and everyone knows it.

In the beginning there were few, but they were many. For a while there was light, but it wasn't long before the light vanished leaving nothing behind but famine and shifting darkness. This was the Great Shift. The earth moved for eight months, day in day out. It was on the third day of the ninth month that it heaved itself heavenward one last time before settling beneath them.

The clan found it's feet again, on the farthest reaches of the wind lands. They were few but they were strong and each had learned to care for itself during the hard times. A change gripped the hearts of the few still in possession of their spirits and fighting will. It cannot be found who it was that first voiced the litany, but the mantra was clear. Plague. This new energy, it seemed, was not much one for the lands they currently occupied.

It was the young imperial Surtr to whom it spoke most directly. "Take my children, those who will go, and move from this valley to the empty plains in the land of illness.
For it is there that you will find the solution to your famine and a proper home to begin again, once more a united front."

They argued for days and nights. The progens protested the strongest; "It is here that we were born! It is to the windmaker that we must offer our faith, for this is the land that provides.
What stock could exist to be found in the land of the dead, the valley of death."
It was a statement, not a question. It was the shared laugh at the very idea.

But Surtr was not easily deterred. Wise beyond her years she persisted. To every shaggy pile of yellowing grass that was called home by some dragon or another of the clan. Many did not understand what was being asked of them, for they were left confused and tired of spirit by the many trials they had faced. It was in UniLastBorn that Surtr found a strong companion. He didn't know much, but he knew that there was nothing to be found for them in the Wind lands. The collection of dragons could hardly be called a clan anymore.

It was with half the clan that the two left. The journey was a long one, and many were lost during it. Some simply did not make the trip, others chose to leave and serve the deity they so strongly believed deserved their loyalty, and still others found clans along the way and chose to stay and try their luck at a new start and the chance to heal.
But Surtr persisted; north north north. To the emptiest lands there were.
"Settle yourself where there are no others to be seen for much space around you."
It was in the wastelands that they finally stopped, many dragons fewer, but not without gain. They had picked up other young dragons along the way to make up for the loss of their kin.

Made old and wise beyond her years by the journey, Surtr began the long, grueling task of establishing a new clan with what little she had.
