When they aren't busy helping out around the clan or working as healers, Heleus and his mate practice a school of magic that is generally frowned upon. However, they don't see it as the dark, dangerous force that most others think of. They see their magic as.. more like a second chance. In their minds, it is a rescue operation.

The two practice their magic in secrecy, late at night in a cave on the island, far from any other dragons. The resulting dragons are indistinguishable from any other child of theirs. They start in eggs, which are carefully placed in the pair's own nest in the morning, and hatch with the rest of the clutch. Most don't have any memories of their past lives.

All of this began after the pair lost two of their own hatchlings. They haven't been able to 'rescue' them, but they are determined to help and take care of as many lost children as they can.

The two have also been known to perform near miraculous work as healers, seemingly bringing dragons back from the brink of death..
