Biography

Brimstone
Blacksmith of the Dreaming Moon Clan
I6ZbNlL.png
EQ3XHs3.png Personality:

Patience is something Snappers are very good at. When her eyes are focused, the stinging of lack of sleep threatening to ruin her work, nothing can break her concentration. Her big, clumsy claws work carefully, placing a nice, polished gem in the center of such a small chain. Then she squeezes the chain around the stone, fastening it with fire. Perfect. A perfect Teardrop bracelet. The leather she wraps around the chain making the gem shine. This is her patience. Hours can pass and she would still be setting the gem in. Nothing can rush her. Well, nothing not serious. Sometimes, there will be a ruckus outside and she will stomp out, a hammer at her side, ready to be thrown. Her eyes blazing in anger while fire spews from her mouth. Patient indeed.

The only creature, besides her familiar (regardless how they change), that can dare to interrupt her is Rubble. She is happy when he hugs her, rubbing his head against her shoulder, waiting for her to give him attention and listen to his tales of guarding the clan borders. With him, she works better, knowing he is there to protect her and watch her, even though Brimstone doesn't need protecting. Her smile grows only bigger when Rubble gives her a golden-orange bird, or some lantern lights to decorate her workspace with, or rare gems he dug out from the land of Earth. Just for her. Her joy with him knows no bounds and she had even crafted armor for him, from old rubble from the very Tower the Earthshaker was said to live in. Decorating it with crystals that could only continue to grow. She even let his bear sleep in the fires, heating its rocky body.

Her kindness knows no bounds, either. To any dragon that had given her metals and gems for free, she gives them specially made jewelry. She donates to dragons that need some cheering up, crafts things for free for dragons having trouble finding a permanent home, and gives gifts of weapons--using her father's own directions--to the exalted dragons, so they can better serve whatever God or Goddess they go to serve. This has made her popular among the other dragons, and has earned her the nickname "Arcanist's Angel". Her humble attitude makes other dragons swoon, but they never get too far with Rubble close by, chasing them off and stomping his feet, making it clear that he is the one that loves her. Not that he has any competition. Brimstone loves him too much. In fact, she loves Rubble as much as she loves her father, which knows no bounds.

History:

She was born in lava. The hot pool of molten rock like her private swimming pool, her siblings being born and taken off right after hatching. They were thrown into the pit that lead to the Flamecaller, going to serve her. Her? No, not her. Brimstone's father, a Shadow dragon, called Vulcan, loved her too much. With her riding on his back, he took her to the work shop where her mother worked as well. Shaye was working with the metal, her goggles protecting her eyes. Her father was designing weapons, a nice family business. Brimstone was trained right after she was born to work with the fire and make strong weapons. She was the best, the greatest at it. But her heart wasn't into it. When she was younger, she knew that weapons was not what she enjoyed doing. What was the point? Why make weapons? No, she wanted to decorate the world. To make it beautiful with shining gems and glistening metals.

Her father found out one day. He found her working on a necklace. He smashed it under his foot, telling her that her talents were going to waste and that he needed her to carry on the business. Mother was deathly quiet. Brimstone fought, arguing with a dragon she could never have argued with before. Her father's eyes shinned with tears, some stray ones streaming down his face. Brimstone was crying herself when she told her parents she needed to leave, to explore the world. She left behind her closest dragon friend from another clan to help her aging parents, taking her things and a few tools. While she walked out of the clan grounds, she heard her name. Her father, rushing. His age made it difficult for him to move but he caught up to her, a sack hanging at his side. He shrugged it off and helped Brimstone put it on. It was filled with his best tools, rare metals, and precious gems. His eyes were red with crying and his lips twitching in grief. He wished his baby girl luck, and she set off.

No Fire clan wanted a jeweler. At first they were happy to hear about her lineage and welcomed her, but then they discovered she had no interest in making weapons. Thirty clans. Brimstone counted. Thirty had kicked her out. Fine. They didn't deserve her talent. She wandered further, away from the fiery lands covered in flowing lava like rivers. The Wind dragons loved her jewelry but didn't want a Fire dragon in their midst, due to their bamboo. The Plague dragon welcomed her but the smell of rot and destruction made her belch and she had to leave. Then... then she saw pink. Lots and lots of pink. Brimstone had wandered into the land of the Arcanist. She wandered further in, liking the sky, the ground... and a clan. Not just any clan, a certain one. They welcomed her with open arms, needed someone to take over their forge. Brimstone, sick of being kicked out, hurriedly explained that she wasn't a weapon-maker. They laughed. They didn't want a weapon-maker they wanted... her heart swelled. They wanted someone with a passion, with talent, to make their clan better. Weapons were good, yes, when she had to make them, but otherwise? They wanted her to be happy. This place was better. It was hard at first, to get settled into such a small forge nestled in the breast of a hill, but she made it her work shop. She traveled regularly, to the land of Wind to those that bought her jewelry, asking them for rare materials. The wanderers and explorers had plenty to spare, but even they ran out over time or couldn't offer up any, only have bamboo and some metal. The land of Water had plenty of pearls to sell, and the Plague lands even had their own strange gems and metals. Of course, even today, she gets precious metals from her father. He couldn't have been prouder, especially when Brimstone introduced her mate Rubble, a powerful Earth dragon.
