"Go ahead. Run. They all do. They’re all dead, too."

“She came back again today to buy wire for her next project. Longneck skeleton, found somewhere outside of the canyon while she was going to check on a caravan the harpies reported as having been attacked a few miles south. The skeleton itself is old and bleached, and Ikrakav says that it’s a salvage and not a hunt. I’m inclined to believe her this time, seeing as she didn’t smell like blood.

“The caravan was fine, which is good. Tsriki was with them as hired help and I was worried. She says that The Wolves ended up fighting off a roc, of all things, which had apparently been snagging people and animals off the trail for easy snacks. She doesn’t know how they’ve missed it all this time, but hey. Rocs are tricky. They apparently lived at the Roost for years and everyone just thought they were tall tales.

“But to get back to Ikrakav, she said that the roc they killed had a pile of bones and bodies in its nest that she was curious about. Some of them were animals she hadn’t seen before, some of beast morphologies she hadn’t cataloged yet. She did want to drip the poison in my ear, though, because she knows I deal in raw materials to Aimless apothecaries and craftsmen, and all that bone is just sitting there waiting to be scavenged.

“‘Something to think about. I know you’ve been running low.’

“You know, she’s a little off-kilter, but I can’t help but like her. Of all the dragons next door, she treats us the most like kin.”

”Uh, well, we don’t really talk about Ikrakav. I, ah, I mean don’t get me wrong. She’s a testament to The Wolves’ power and when Flauros threw down with us, she certainly pulled more weight than the rest of us. She’s one of the old guard, too; been around longer than any of us, I’m pretty sure, and I think she may even be older than Beast. But there’s… things we just can’t mention. For reasons.

“What things? Ah, well, if I could tell you, I would. Unofficially, I guess I can say that she has some habits and interests that made her unwelcome in her old clan. I won’t say what but, well… y-you know what? Just go to Omen. Talk to the Serthis. You’ll figure it out.”
