But keeping that monster “safe”, when he’s the one destroying everything he touches? That’s where Velvet’s problem lies. |
Forrest is now confined for his horrific crimes, and will be for eternity. Velvet, for reasons known only to him, has a need to “care for” his brother. Velvet spends his days sitting in the safe zone outside Forrest’s prison, and just talks to him. He’ll tell Forrest the cool things he’d seen, or fairy tails and old lore stories he’d been told. Sometimes he brings food for them to share, eating part of it himself, and then dropping it for Forrest.
Forrest never responds to Velvet’s words or stories. Velvet doesn’t seem to mind.
Before Velvet left his birth clan to carry out his own mission, he heard of his parent’s plans to track down Forrest to bring him down for good. A small and easily scared child, Velvet ran. He knew Forrest was sick, and he’d, of course, heard of what happened that day, but a mother and father hurting (or worse) their own son? That didn’t sit right for the young Imperial.
And now, while Velvet will tell anyone who asks that he just wants to sit and spend time with his big brother, he is doing what he can to protect them. He’s laying low, keeping them both hidden and out of sight in case any unexpected visitors stop by the Clan. He’s given descriptions of both of his parents to the rest of the Clan, and requested that, should someone of that description be seen, he be alerted so they, or just he, can run and hide further.
To be safe, Velvet regularly does what he can to change his appearance. His mane has been grown out drastically from when he was younger, making it much easier to hide in, or to style should it get in his way. His delicate wings can’t be changed, and the sparkle from his belly won’t stay hidden under any amount of paints or makeups, he paints his body, hiding the now long dulled crystal patterns on his hide. He decorates his arms and legs in dark stripes, reapplying them with his own paws whenever needed.
He couldn’t be recognized by his parents now, could he?
