Biography
As a very young hatchling, she encountered some of the clan's dragon puppets.
Their jointed appearance was so similar to her own plates that she imprinted on the toy, unbeknownst to her fellow hatchlings and parents. Raptly, she watched as the skydancers and fae of the clan made puppet shows for the amusement of the younger hatchlings. And then she began trying to imitate them. The puppets, not the puppeteers. (The puppeteers were not actually masters at the skill themselves.)
This means that instead of the usual awkwardness of a growing hatchling, little 'Bara walks with jerky, over-compensating puppet steps. One foot up! Out! Down! Next up! Out! Down! Her wings are held stiffly for balance, or sometimes pressed down to the ground to either side to keep her from tipping over.
Her attempts to fly have been characterized as springing up with all four legs held out stifly, and her wings fluttering. Then...they have been characterized as a bellyflop of one sort of another.
So far, no one among the clan realizes that this is anything more than a slightly quirky hatchling. Her father -- who started out with a common hide -- knows that it was a bit odd to adjust to his new armor. Her mother is fond of them all. Andromeda, the leader of the clan, thinks 'Bara is adorable (like all hatchlings) and would happily carry her around in her foreclaws while flying.
Hopefully, 'Bara will grow out of her delusion that she is somehow a living puppet, clipped of her strings and given life by odd Lightning artifacts. She doesn't talk about it, because if it's obvious to her, then surely it is obvious to everyone else? And there's nothing wrong with being a lightning-born puppet, is there?
Bambara's first experience with combat was the Crystal Pools, with the clan's eldest healer and fiercest fighter.
...she did not find the stinger-equipped insects of the region sympathetic to her similar appearance. They are, she has decided, the worst puppets.
