Nereid

Nereid is a mammoth of a Skydancer, very heavy with giant wings, and had he not been aquatic by nature and origin, he might not have survived into adulthood. Nereid was born as the consequence of a magical experiment conducted by Bering in open water on the high seas. He can trace his line back to Poseidon and Oceania themselves, but only in spirit; his body was formed from the ocean itself, with a core of light that Bering used to trap the spirit and give it form.
When he first arose from the depths of the ocean, blinking at the searing light above him, and gazed into the eyes of his creator, she smacked him on the nose quite hard for such a small pearlcatcher and squealed for help. Obviously, her experiment hadn't gone quite to plan.
Nereid cheerfully tries to convince Bering of his efficacy in the form she has given him, by whenever they meet, trying to snatch her up in his ocean-drenched and electricity-scattered wings and drag her down to the seabed in an enthusiastic hug. This is, naturally, misinterpreted as attempted murder, but Nereid fails to see why this is his fault, if his creator has such power over the elements as to have created him from nothing, how is he to know that she can't even breath underwater? He can.
