He smiles,
And calmly replies.
Then something flickers in his eyes,
And he let’s out a bone chilling cry.
He rips,
He screams.

He trys to keep a straight face,

Uncontrollable,
Utterly void feeling creeps over him.

He blinks and smiles.

welp. here goes.

no spoiler cover for imagination from my broken site:
Imagination has a shrouded backround and keeps to himself. It is confirmed that there was a scientist before him that created blueprints that inspired the horrid machines that lurk in his gloomy lab. Not much is known about this other scientist. When asked about him, Imagination simply replies, “You wouldn’t remember.”

Imagination seems to have a grand plan in store for the underground…
psuedotale sans bg story teaser:
Psuedotale sans was always very cheerful and was a typical sans. One day his brother stopped showing up to the royal guard meetings. Sans told everyone that he was sick. At first, they believed him, that is, until sans stopped making puns, started getting jumpy and anxious. At that point, Undyne approached him about his brother and he lashed out. Undyne responded as anyone would, and defended herself. Sans got a spear to the head and it caused a large crack above his right eye. No one saw sans or his brother after that. It is thought that sans died of the wound. Who can be sure?
full(ish) story-

it started when sans found a door leading into a basement he didnt know his house had. at this time, Gaster is still alive. sans inspects the basement and finds a study. in it, there are notes about something called a Soul Splitter. papyrus calls for sans and he has to leave.

sans does not forget about the notes he found. he starts working in the lab with Gaster. eventually, sans and Gaster get a void portal working. up until this point, sans had a growing jealousy fed by Gaster's pride. in the spur of the moment, he pushes Gaster into the portal and breaks the machine. the timeline resets itself, this time deleting Gaster.

sans locks himself in his workshop, working on constructing what he saw in G's notes. he eventually makes the Soul Splitter. papyrus figures out the pass code for the lab and gets in. he eagerly asks sans to let him help test it. after a month of persistence, papyrus finally gets sans to let him test the machine.

it doesnt work.

papyrus gets turned into an amalgam, half gaster blaster and half himself. in a frantic rush, sans locks papyrus in a back room.

everyone wonders where papyrus went. sans insists that he's sick. eventually, Undyne pushes him too much and he lashes out. naturally, undyne protects herself and throws a spear at sans. it hits him above the right eye. he teleports away. he dies later that day.

After his death, he finds himself in a large void dappled with islands. the islands have strange beasts and people of all sorts on them. he finds himself on a rather large island. two other skeletons are there. they greet him excitedly.

the taller one claims to be "Inspiration" and the shorter, "Creativity". they ask sans some questions about how he died, who his relations were. creativity cheerfully comments that he died in a fire and that inspiration was stabbed. they call sans by the strangest name. "Imagination".

they accepted him as one of them. but, sans hears talk of The Center Island. he hears that people who go there sometimes get a second life. so, he sets out.

when he gets to the island, a two headed dragon hisses a riddle at him. he defies the beast. it finds his defiance interesting and lets him pass to a second life.

sans wakes up in his workshop. he gets up, every inch of himself hurting. he looks at his reflection to see that he has a rainbow burned into the left side of his face. he tries everything to get it off. he cant... so he accepts the name of Imagination and continues his lab work.

...

three years pass...

the monsters accept that sans and papyrus are dead.

Imagination makes himself known. he had been working on a project with old lab members to create an artificial surface underground. he had tricked Ink into showing him AUs in which the monsters made it to the surface. from each AU, he took seeds and cuttings from plants. he grew them and spread them in this artificial environment. after he was done collecting plants, he cut his ties with the other AUs.

he traps the lab workers who helped him create the "Surface" and led the rest of the monsters in the underground into this beautiful new home. they all loved it and in turn, Imagination. they saw him as their savior... but he had other plans.

he ignored their praise, making sure to distance himself from every single person. he locked up the Underground, not letting anyone go back in.

Imagination got the Soul Splitter hooked up back in the underground and tested it out on the lab workers. each time, he tried new settings but it never worked. each test subject amalgamated.

time and time again, the tests failed. each time, Imagination lost more and more of himself. he ran out of test subjects after a while. he put the amalgams behind forcefields. they mingled with each other until the most aggressive ones merged with the quieter, calmer ones.

Imagination eventually turned the entire underground into one horrible True Lab. he slowly split himself into two; his facade of a bright and gentle side that he shows to the people in Overground, and the insane, sadistic side that only his test subjects see.

humans began falling into his lab. he puts up his facade for each. he guides them to the end of the lab, gaining their trust along the way. in the end, he kills them in the most horrible ways possible, making sure they dont reset all his hard work.

he doesnt dare test the machine on the human souls yet. he needs to make sure that the machine can work with the most fragile of souls; monster souls. he starts taking his long time friends into his lab. Undyne, Alphys, Muffet... everyone he ever learned to love. the machine destroyed each of them.

there was, however, one thing Imagination did not think of... not only were the king and queen still alive, but they had a new guard. while he was making the Overworld, a Feral fell down, claiming to have been sent by The Fear Queen to find a human child that had fallen down. he had not found them and was forced to stay. he wielded a large battle axe from the war of humans and monsters. his right eye had a nasty gash taken out of it and no longer worked. he went by the name of Malighos.

Malighos was alert. too alert for his own good... he was onto Imagination and knew that he was the one making people disappear. the king and queen trusted Imagination too much, however, and refused to believe such claims until proper proof was provided.

Enraged at the king and queen's blind trust in Imagination, Malighos went to kill him. Imagination was expecting him though so he had the advantage. Malighos was slow and depended on brute strength to fight. Imagination, however, had speed and magic of all sorts to work with. his staff held enough power to turn Malighos to dust if he so wished. but regardless of Malighos not having a soul, Imagination wanted him for his experiments.

with swift motions, Imagination cut off Malighos' limbs one by one until he could no longer move. he took his skull, despite its attempts to bite him, and crushed it onto a nearby flower. the remains of his body crumbled...

Imagination uprooted the flower patch and took it to his lab. all of the flowers but one died. its bloom remained closed for a long time... until one day it opened...

the flower had awoken as Malighos himself. he tried to get free but to no avail. Imagination trapped him in a small pot that he placed on his main work desk. he flicked the flower when it tried to curse at him and he walked away.

he convinced the king and queen to come down to his lab. the king helped Imagination test the machine. when he started to amalgamate, the queen didnt know what was going on and rushed to his aid. they fused into one twisted amalgam.

Imagination found the situation funny. though he was upset that he lost a perfectly good test subject, he was able to clear two obstacles in one go. he had almost forgotten about the prince.

he went to the castle to find the young Asriel. he told Asriel that his parents had died in an accident. Asriel was heart broken and cried the whole day through, eventually falling asleep leaning on Imagination.

in some small way, Imagination still cared about Asriel and couldnt bare to see him turn into an amalgamate. so, he took on the task of taking care of the young prince. Imagination had a school built at which Mettaton would teach the lessons that Imagination wanted him to. all the kids that went there who knew the underground quickly forgot about it. one by one, the old underground inhabitants were dragged to Imagination's lab and amalgamated.

other than Asriel, there was one person that Imagination genuinely did not want amalgamated... Grillby.

Grillby was very quiet and did more watching and listening than talking. he was excellent at riddles of all sorts and deep down knew all of Imagination's tricks. he did not say anything of them to anyone but the two humans that made it out of the Underground. he didnt do much cooking but when he did, the food was the best in the Overground. he felt the resets and remembered the timelines, knew of Ink and the AUs, and gradually lost hope as none of the humans were able to make it out of the hell that he knew they were all stuck in.

Malighos, now trapped in a flower's body, gradually lost himself and gave into the helplessness that ate at the back of his mind...

one day...

a different kind of human fell...

his name?

Fred.

Fred fell down. his soul was red and black; representing apathy. he had a knife in his hand and his clothes were stained in dirt and blood. Fred was short and seemed unimpressed or uninterested in everything around him. he did seem to know this world though. he knew something was wrong. he knew Malighos by a different name; Flowey. so, reluctantly, Flowey accepted this name.

Imagination was going to kill him just like all the other humans but he fought back in the most interesting way... by being unusually nice to him... Fred explored the lab behind Imagination's back, made friends with the amalgams, and found papyrus. he talked in length with papyrus and delivered an old metal pin to Imagination, reminding him of what once was. he let him out and he went to make friends with the other inhabitants.

he was the one human that was able to collapse Imagination's entire plan. he knew this and acted impulsively. he used the Soul Splitter on himself...

it worked...

He was split into a "good side" and a "bad side". his mind was transferred to the good side while the bad was given a new identity. he knew that this was a chance at another new start. third time's the charm.

he caged the bad side, now dubbed Nightmare, and claimed that "Imagination" was killed by this beast in an attempt to fix an amalgam. he introduced himself as Dream. he kept his good nature for a few months and gave up on his lab until he was walking around in town and felt Nightmare's presence. he teleported to him to find him trying to talk Fred into siding with him instead of Dream.

Dream snapped, remembering everything that he had ever done, all the amalgams he created and why he had done everything he did. he became filled with an insatiable rage. he struck down Nightmare and dragged him back to the lab, telling Fred that Nightmare was lying.

Fred got curious and went back to the lab. he questioned Dream when he found him by the Soul Splitter. he struck him down and reversed the Soul Splitter, merging him and Nightmare once more...

Imagination and Fred had a long battle that neither of them won. Fred insisted on Mercy and his Pacifist ways while Imagination threw every attack he could at him. the floors collapsed at Imagination's command and the two dropped into a ravine. in it, there was the old Void Portal that Imagination had stashed away for years.

The tremor made by Imagination was enough to knock Flowey off the desk he was on. his clay pot shattered and he crept away to stalk Imagination and Fred's fight. Imagination turned on the void portal after knocking Fred down and was going to throw him into it but Flowey grabbed him...

Imagination was thrown against the wall farthest from the Void Portal and sharp vines surrounded him, ready to kill. Flowey gave Fred a choice. either he could escort himself through the portal and Imagination would be let live or he could attempt to save Imagination, risking his life and being sucked into the Void anyways.

Determined as always, Fred dashed forward, knife in hand, ready to slash the vines out of the way. the portal activated and he was sucked into the void anyways. Flowey killed Imagination...

in the void, Fred met the one known as The Man That Does Not Speak. on his back and shoulders was a back support modeled to look like save point wings. he was torn and missing an arm. Amalgams closed in on all sides. he greeted Fred with such warmth, as if he had known him for a long time. he did not understand the strange signs he tried to use to communicate so instead, the tattered skeleton offered Fred his soul. it was torn and chipped, just like him, but it was a soul. he took it as the amalgams began to attack. he reached out to a new save point, and loaded...

he found himself at the area just before what he had dubbed The Body Room. he rushed inside and closed the door. he reached out to a nearby save point. it used to talk to him but it now is silent.

he went through with his pacifist run but after he got out of the lab and faced Imagination, he let him kill him. he did not reset...
