As Chimera's first follower, Toad is her second in command, her kinder ruling partner when delicate finesse is required.

Toad was always a good ambassador, operating as part of a neutral clan of pearlcatchers who traded among beatstclans. His tongue was eloquent as was his refined manner, making him invaluable for negotiations. But he grew greedy, taking more than many beastclans offered.

All at once his life was torn apart, his clan scattered and erased by those he deceived. Nothing left but their pearls strewn among barren ground. As a broken dragon, he stole himself away, coddling the pearls and destroying his own. Chimera came upon him after hearing about his once articulate feats, seeking to gather him for her own purposes. She promised him a safe place for his pearls in exchange for his services. Knowing no better, he agreed.

He presently resumes his old role, keeping peace between Chimera's eccentric lair and the beasts around them. He still carries around many of the pearls, reminding himself to never make the same mistake again. At times he's lost in their whispers, his old eyes glazed in memories not of his own.
