FOSSILIZED ARCANE ONYX

The last thing Onyxscale remembers of the old times was the pulsing energy of the Arcane crystal that sat in the center of the pillar, feeling the magic course through her veins, slowly encasing her form in a hard, obsidian crystal, the hazy pink sky fading away into the darkness.

Next, she heard hushed whispers alongside faint clinks as something tapped at her sides. While her eyes remained closed, she noticed more and more light starting to show past her eyelids. But she remains unbroken, and so very tired. And so she drifts off to sleep once more.

The voices around her fall into a silence as she stirs, slowly blinking her eyes open. She finds herself surrounded by four dragons: an undertide, a skydancer, a gaoler, and an imperial- seemingly the clan leaders- who look at her curiously. After being told of her whereabouts- deep underneath the Starwood Strand and being unearthed during a lair expansion- she draws herself to her full height, stretching out her wings, a cacophony of shattering obsidian as the crystallized leather stretches out. They offer her a place within the clan if she chooses to stay, or at least some respite before she journeys onwards.

As she gets introduced to the rest of the clan, she feels a strange force drawing her towards one of the caverns, breaking away from the clan leaders.

She makes her way through the caves, ending in an unfinished hallway. Feeling a draw past the stone. So she starts digging, her strong obsidian claws slicing through the stone with ease, digging a cavern around a large pink crystal embedded in one of the walls. Soon, Samuel and Schellis join her, following her steps in widening the cavern, not knowing her intentions.

Soon, the crystal floats in the middle of the room, giving a soft, comforting hum. She looks up at the crystal, feeling the Arcane energy within her finally able to disperse and connect to the crystal, relieving her much of the crystalline stress embedded in her scales. She looks softly to the clan leaders, thanking them for offering her a home in the lands she once knew, and lies down to rest once again. She takes on the role of one of the clan's protectors, lying in wait until her assistance is needed.

Time has taken its toll on her, and even though the Arcane energy coursing through her body keeps herself alive, the physical and magical stress placed upon her body cannot be ignored. Fortunately, the Arcane crystal buried beneath the lair offers a way for the energy within her to disperse, but she still has to rest far more than an average dragon. And so she closes her eyes once again, falling back into a deep sleep, only waking from her slumber once every few months or so, greeting new clan members who arrived during her rest.

While she slumbers, some dragons of the clan have found comfort in sleeping beside her when nights are tough. The Arcane energy surrounding her body and the crystal provides a comfortable warmth in the cool cave alongside her quiet, steady breaths.
