Wren

My little Snow Wren, it will all be ok......

Those were the last words he’d heard from his mother before he succumbed to darkness in the frigid icy blizzard.
Wren was discovered hours after the freak storm had passed, his large unwieldily wings wrapped around himself while his mother’s lifeless frozen body clutched him desperately to her chest. He was barely alive, breath shallow and heartbeat fluttering, his body cold like the ice around him. Removing him from his mother's grip was a troublesome task; her icy claws were unmovable and the search and rescue team was forced to break away portions of her frozen body to reach the hatchling.
He awoke many days later under the watchful eye of Jokul within the Blue Sapling clan borders.

Wren had been cast out by his pack for his wings, constantly held back by their weight and size. Such a practice is common amongst Mirror packs, leaving behind the weak if they cannot keep up. Their size and weight were too much for the hatchling to bear, and with the ice, wind and snow they had become too heavy for him to carry. His mother, the only Guardian of the pack, stayed behind with him, leading to her death. Had it not been for Jokul's chance encounter, Wren likely would have died as well.

Many years have passed since that day, and Wren has still not grown into his wings. They are so heavy he can hardly fly, the best he can do is glide most of the time. They also make him quite clumsy and awkward on land. However, he is an optimistic and cheerful young pup, often seen following behind Jokul and asking him many questions about Southern Icefield culture. Wren hopes to one day be a cartographer or explorer and chart the lands between the Starfall Isles and the Southern Icefield. When he's not following Jokul around, he is often seen with Keahi, another Mirror pup around his age. They often get up to mischief together, with Wren more often than not following in Keahi's spitfire footsteps. They share a special bond as they are both flightless due to their wings, though for opposite reasons.
