|| BackgroundElurra is only one of many dragons hatched in the Sunbeam Ruins, raised in the glow of the Lightweaver. Her family was a small and humble clan of Tundras, who farmed the peaceful fields and lived entirely off the food they produced. She was raised to be a farmer in their footsteps, to carry on the family legacy and remain on the land her clan had owned for generations.
However, ever since she was very young, Elurra was beset by an insatiable wanderlust. Her family was entirely unprepared to deal with it; none of them had even considered stepping foot outside of the Ruins in decades. But the young Elurra was hungry for a journey. They did their best to keep her with them, teach her the ways of farming and give her time to grow roots at home, but it was all for naught. As soon as she learned to fly, Elurra packed her bags and turned to the wide-open roads of Sornieth. She only brought a single silver pocketwatch with her, memento-wise; it had once belonged to her grandmother and carried her family's scent with it.
The grand journey Elurra had always hungered for began in the Tangled Wood and continued wherever her feet decided to take her. At first, she was content to merely wander, and found her Tundra memory to be beneficial to keeping a clear head, but she soon wanted a more concrete way to remember her path. She picked up map-making first as a way to do this, but later her skill became clear, and she started to make multiple on her trips to sell at whatever clan she stayed at next. Her eye for detail was legendary.
Though she has visited every Flight spare for the Sea of a Thousand Currents, Elurra's longest and most harrowing stay was in the Southern Icefield, which she went to alongside a group of similarly-minded explorers. The explorers trekked into an ice crevasse, months later, not all of them returned. Elurra was quick to make her own leave; she made a hasty trip all the way to the Viridian Labyrinth, where she stayed for a while. It was there that she discovered her ward Amaranth, then just a fragile, newly-hatched Fae beset upon by Talonok. She shooed the Beastclan away and, when no one claimed the infant for their own, adopted them herself.
Eventually, the roots that Elurra's long-ago family wanted her to put down developed, at least a little. She and Amaranth were the first ever settlers in a Rara Avis barely out of its shell; they encountered the Queen and King clearing the crater and helped them with the effort. With her age beginning to catch up with her somewhat, and years of maps under her belt, Elurra decided to stay, and set up her shop, The Wandering Compass.
|| CurrentA seemingly permanent fixture in Rara Avis, Elurra has been present for every struggle and blessing the clan has faced, big and small. She is well-known there, a friendly Tundra with an odd, devil-may-care demeanor. She currently lives in the back of her shop with Amaranth and their boyfriend Niril, a strange but lovely little family to be sure.
While she may have put down some roots, wanderlust is etched into Elurra's soul, utterly and completely. She still sometimes goes on her journeys, disappearing from the clan for weeks on end and reappearing with a new set of maps in tow and new stories to tell. When asked about it, Amaranth is never concerned— this is simply the way she is, and will always be.
Some of Elurra's maps are more mysterious than others. There are some she keeps hidden, even from her family; she changes the subject when her journey in the Southern Icefield is mentioned. There are rumors that if you know exactly what to say, Elurra has maps that can guide you into the deepest ice canyons, into secrets even the Icewarden hesitates to remember. But those are just rumors, and Elurra is a simple mapmaker, no matter how much Gaolers make her flinch.

|| Notes◈ The farmlands where Elurra grew up are long gone, destroyed entirely by Luminax. Her pocketwatch has also lost its scent over her trips, and she has not attempted to rediscover her family, or find out if any of them escaped the emperor's rampage.
◈ Elurra collected quite a stash of trinkets and artifacts during her travels, many of which she didn't particularly care for. Her friendship with Yorihime was based primarily on her selling the artifacts to them. She now brings anything she finds on her shorter trips to them.
◈ While Amaranth was young, they and Elurra developed a sort of physical language where the Fae would flick her ears or horns in certain patterns while they rode on her back as she walked.
◈ She is in her mid-sixties.
◈ Mapwise is a recent addition to Elurra's life, but a welcome one. She bought the springbok from the Rara Avis marketplace and ties it in front of her shop to protect it while she's gone.
◈ Worldwing is not Elurra's hatching surname. She changed it not long after she began travelling and has since forgotten the original.
◈ Kurki is Eluraa's long-term partner, who she met during her ill-fated trip mapping a crevasse in the Southern Icefield. Kurki helped her escape to the Viridian Labyrinth, and the two have kept together via letters. In fact, their relationship is the reason for their two clans' allyship.
