Know yourself. Her lips curl in a gleaming white smile, devastation and amusement. In childhood, she was eternally overshadowed by her numerous siblings. Inevitably, anything that she did had been done better by another sibling. In adulthood, she has been separated from her family for a long time, but she still struggles to find an identity for herself.

Sometimes, in flights of fancy, she thinks of her capsule as a measuring stick as to how much of a dragon she is. How can she be anything without an identity? She is everything and yet nothing, higher than the Observatory itself but lower than the deepest ends of the Carrion Canyon.

She takes a breath to steady her trembling body, one, two, three. She imagines it blowing away the dark clouds scudding over the horizon of her mind.

“I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night,” she reminds herself. She has faith in herself, that one day she will find an identity she can wholeheartedly call her own, and it will be the stars to her night sky.
