The massive 'garden' covering the interior of Apex's old altar is bone and blood. The garden--affectionately called Pan by its lairmates--is the massive corpse of a clan of traveling spirals. Starving and trapped in a thick glen, the clan stumbled upon a rotting Imperial corpse. With little choice, they had their fill and continued their journey. Slowly, inside of them the Emperor curse began to emerge. They became twisted together with each other and the overgrowth, forming a gruesome mass grave.
When Pan was recovered by Ivy, the coatl was forced to fight the 'survivors' off in order to recover the undead creature. Once subdued, it was quickly put into a deep sleep by Dolor's poisons. It has not since awakened.
