Spinel

Though pink, fluffy, and dressed in disarming attire, Spinel is the farthest thing from friendly. His propensity for engineering earned him an immense amount of funding from the Stormcatcher, all of which he poured into a prototyping laboratory he rules with an iron fist. Often seeking the impossible, Spinel drives his colleagues to success - and up the wall in the process.

His design work focuses primarily on miniaturizing current power sources and using magical power to fuel equipment. He refuses to wear or use contemporary inventions of the Tempest Spire, lamenting the lack of compactness or elegance of their designs (have you even SEEN the electrician's power pack? gaudy and impractical, he'll claim after ensuring the Stormcatcher is not eavesdropping).

In addition to leading his engineering lab, Spinel partakes in dangerous expeditions to the Scarred Wasteland for rare resources and samples. They can then be sold for hefty bounty or, less tastefully, utilized in weapons research. Much of the technology and weaponry designed by his team undergo trial by fire in those desolate plains. Casualty from his inventions is something that never occurs to him because not a single one of his designs have failed - yet.

SpineLabs Prototypes

Light Rebreather - breathing apparatus designed to filter out bacterial and viral agents from hazardous atmospheres. Relies on Light-charged filter changes.

Ice Hydration Bladder - hydration pouch able to condense moisture out of standard atmospheres and produce potable water for the user. Powered by small Ice-magic generators.

Nature Shell - grenade with an acorn surrounded by a compacted Nature-magic charge. Able to implant and grow a massive tree quickly once detonated in hospitable soil conditions.

Lightning Rifle - pistol-grip or shoulder-mountable cannon that relies on electricity to deliver projectiles at rapid speeds to distant targets. Uses Lightning-charged battery packs and Water-magic cooling systems.

Flamethrower - Fire-powered rifle good for singing Tundra fur. Development discontinued at Spinel's "request".
