GRACE

Simple elegance or refinement

Not all monsters are bad. Grace was born on a happy bright day, a day of which nothing could go wrong. Life was wonderful, and nothing could take her happiness away. As a child Grace could always find the good in everything no matter how bad it truly was. Everyone thought she was strange because of it, but she didn't care. Life was good and even her siblings couldn't ruin her mood.

As Grace grew older, she began to realize that the world wasn't all rainbows and happiness. There were others out there who didn't have such easy live. She wanted to help them all, so she did. Her first project was a young, homeless dragonet. She took her in and taught her the wonders of the world, but she still wasn't convinced. She named her Alouarn in hope that it would give her strength. When Alouarn became old enough to live on her own she left Grace with a brief, loving hug. Grace was proud. Wanting to fill the aching hole in her chest she set out to find a new project. She scoured the world before finding herself in the southern icefied with a magnificent project in sight.

When Grace saw Charge for the first time she felt an unexplained urge to get closer. What exactly was this feeling? She wouldn't understand until later, but it was the first sign of love. Grace watched Charge day after day hoping that one day she would be noticed. She rarely was. A pain grew in her chest, one of neglect. Her pain manifested itself in a strange way. Beautiful white roses grew in elegant patterns from under her skin. She left Charge gifts of these roses and they would always disappear with her. She never knew what was done with the roses, but hope bloom in her chest once again. Weeks after her first sighting she approached Charge with a bouquet. Charge did not approve and thrust the roses right back at her. Grace was heartbroken, but she saw something in Charge's eyes that day. Something that continued to give her a glimmer of hope. She followed Charge, watching her from the sideline everywhere that she would go. Every time that Charge would win a match she would shower her from above in rose petals. One day, perhaps, she would notice.

Grace watched as a Guardian stole Charge from her grasp. Envy and jealousy soon became her greatest friends. She wish that horrible things would happen to this Guardian as they started a family, and one day they did. A mixture of happiness and rage battled for control in her unsteady heart. He attacked Charge, but she fought back, won, and ran away. He did not get up after their quarrel. Grace made sure that the Guardian was indeed dead before she chased after Charge, spilling flower petals as she went. Charge seemed to notice, and after a long flight to the Mirrorlight Promenade she approached. "Why do you always follow me?" she asked in a soft, defeated voice. Grace thought for a few moments about how to reply, but she finally decided on the truth. "Because I love you. I don't know why, but i do." Shock was quite visible on Charge's face, and Grace feared that she had said the wrong thing. She watched as emotions shifted across her face. Confusion, wonder, and something more...? Charge shifted her head and spoke once again "what is your name flower girl?" What and easy question that was. "My name is Grace." Charge moved closer to her and looked her in the eyes "I think I like you too..." Her voice trailed off. Things didn't seem so gloomy after all. A smile lit up Grace's face and she moved to Charge's side. There they sat watching the sun sink with their tails entwined. Grace was amazed with the outcome of the day.
