Biography

Awakened Familiars: Parasitic Fungus

There once was a beautiful and kindly Snapper known as Mother Mary. She was known all across the lands for being the career of both hatchlings and dragons alike, whether ailing in health or in need of a companion. One day, Mother Mary's Clan received a visitor-a handsome Guardian named Jinse. It was love at first sight. The spark burned bright, and the two had a nest of three wonderful hatchlings. But alas, their love was not to be, as Jinse had to return to his own Clan. With him he took Heir, a child who shared his appearance and showed the most promise in leadership. As for the other two hatchings, the female Glitter stayed with Mother Mary while the male Regal went to stay with a close friend.

Glitter was beautiful like her mother, but fickle. It seemed no suitor could please her enough for her to take them as a mate. For you see, the suitors they picked would ensure a powerful bloodline and help make a prophecy come true, one in which their family would reign supreme. Mother Mary did not want this power to fall into the claws of anyone else, lest they use it for evil. When Glitter finally did find a mate, it was one that did not fit into the required bloodlines. Mother Mary begged and pleaded for Glitter to reconsider, but the selfish Snapper had already made up her mind. And so, Glitter and her Skydancer mate Citrine ran off to live with her brother. Mother Mary, out of desperation, took on another mate-a handsome Nocturne named Rune. This time she had two hatchlings, and while the male Glyn was sent back to live with his father, the female Vanity stayed with Mother Mary to continue the sacred bloodline.

Eventually, Mother Mary and her daughter Vanity followed in the path of Glitter and Citrine, going to live with Glitter's brother Regal. There, Vanity found a handsome Guardian by the name of Vigor, and fell in love with him immediately. As their love fit in with the requirements for the ancient power to be unlocked, Mother Mary made no move to stop them, and soon the two had three beautiful hatchlings. Vanity, despite protests from Vigor, drove away the two male hatchlings Wild and Nightfire, leaving the sole female child Braveheart for her to care for.

Unlike her family, Braveheart had a bit of trouble producing the right hatchling when paired with the correct male. Moonfire was a kind gentleman, a foil to his mate's rambunctious and fiery nature, but they got along perfectly. However, their first clutch of three hatchlings did not result in a child that could continue the sacred bloodline. So for one month, Braveheart paced around the Clan, anxious and disappointed in herself while Moonfire futilely tried to calm her down. When the time finally came that they could have hatchlings again, Braveheart was stressed as ever, clinging to Moonfire as he comforted her and told her everything would turn out alright. So when the time finally came for their children to hatch, they were so ecstatic that they decided to keep two out of the tree hatchlings, the one who had to go being the melancholy Brier. The two that stayed were twins, consisting of the tough and stubborn Mae, who was fiercely protective of those she cared for, and the passive and reserved Elvar, who was the chosen one and would be the sole child to have children and continue the bloodline.

They were getting closer to the hatchling that would contain untold power, evident from Elvar's temperament. At most times, he was stable and quiet, reserved in his hope for peace and quiet. Yet if one spark set off his temper, the Clan would be thrust into utter discord. After these raging spells that would so often take over the fearsome yet misunderstood Elvar, he would often retreat to the farthest outreaches of the Sunbeam Ruins to sulk and ruminate on the day's events. Then he met his bright, shining light, the one who would save him from himself-Elaina.
