The Summoned Fiend
By Shikigami
"Tis workin’," she whispered, cackling slightly under her breath, "aye, haste ye back, caraid dhòmhsa..."
She stared at her work of art, the corpse she’d lovingly tended all these years, shining underneath the flashes of light. No longer could she stand to see her old friend suffer the claws of death. As the clock suddenely struck midnight, the old witch Marietta felt a chill creep up her back. Now was the time! As she got up, she reached for the dusty old scroll leaning against a large table. Marietta stared, her smile more malicious then anything, and chanted "praecipio tibi reducam hac vice," over and over and over.
At the very same moment, Samhain was begrudgingly leading an elderly couple to their new home in the Shadowbinder’s realm of the dead. He worked diligently for his diety, a job given to him upon his untimely death. A job he certainly never asked for, but did nonetheless. Terribly boring, if you were to ask his opinion.
As he led the couple to a very quaint lake front cottage, his own soul began feeling rather weird, and very, very tired. How odd. It suddenly felt as if multiple knives had plunged into his core. He let out a squeak, then another, and another until his voice had completly left him. He stared up at the stars, stars he seemed to be coming ever closer to as he began to rise. Faster and faster he rose, and soon he felt a blanket of pain overwash his exhausted soul. And as quickly as it has started, everything then turned to darkness.
As Samhain awoke, he looked around. He felt so strange, and as he looked down, it would seem his soul had been reinserted into his former body. A body that should be dust considering how long he’d been dead...He looked up in horror then at the dragon standing there, his eyes wide with fear. A voice spoke, soft, but jagged, "ye shall be condemned ‘ere for all eternity!” A cackle escaped the old dragon's maw, a cackle belonging to a being he thought he’d never see again. A dark, sinister friend, with an evil smile. A smile now inspiring the one beginning to form upon his own boney face.
