Marganess counts herself more an artist than a stylist. Posture, attitude, the angle you turn to gaze longingly out across the waves, it all comes together to form a living sculpture: You.

In a working clan like Ista (for, though it has its singers and dreamers, most dragons are hard at work) there isn't much call for the kind of style she prefers - delicate, satinesque drapes and jewellery - but she perseveres. Something always comes along, after all, that requires her services, and in the meantime Sapphire and Kamzara are always avid listeners.

Atsul, too, proved to be pleasant company, once she got used to his abrupt attitude and competitive nature. It was nice to have someone to work with, though, side by side. She liked him even better when he insisted on taking over their actual selling of their wares; she'd never liked that part. It brought in a good bit of money for the clan, admittedly, but sometimes she just wanted to give others pretty things. Things that made them smile, made their eyes dance. It honestly didn't really matter whether it suited them or not; watching the way a face could light up, every crest and feather and scale flexing with joy, was art in and of itself.

Sometimes, she allows herself to miss Shirda. She had been the clan's resident artist for years, sketching her dreams as often as reality. She'd been a bit odd, perhaps - withdrawn and pensive, even in the midst of a conversation - but what artist wasn't, at times? She'd been someone different to talk to, at least.

Recently, Marganess has taken up her old hobby again. She's missed dancing, feeling the world spin around her as she twirls, dragging her silks behind her. Everything blurs together and fades away, and there's only her. It's relaxing and humbling, and it hurts after all these years without practice, but no matter. She'll get better, again.
