Those who loose themselves in the Starwood Strand meet many fates, but none are as mysterious as those who become Starwood Stragglers. There have been stories about lost dragons becoming one with the trees of the Strand for as long as any dragon can remember, but it wasn't until relatively recently that the Starfall Isles's mages began to recognize the Stragglers as the mysterious in-between stages they are.
Stragglers are dragons that the Strand ensnared long ago, but were lucky enough to escape its hold before fully transforming. Other than their peculiar appearances, the effects of this condition are widely diverse. Some dragons find their faculties for speech and expression limited, others are simply eccentric, and others still remain obsessed with the Strand for years after their escape. Indeed, it seems these effects are impossibly wide-ranging, and each Straggler is unique.
Indeed, the Starwood Strand's magic is possibly the most mysterious in all of Sornieth, and even a native dweller could occasionally here it's call...
