Biography
I don't see.
I remember seeing, long ago, but the time is lost to me now. Much like the white Coatls, I was cast away from the nest for fear of bad luck or illness. My senses were jagged and unpolished at the time. I wandered aimlessly, unable to find my way back to my parents, and in time even the windswept plains were beyond me.
I was not found like the others, by Astaral. It was Ankarv who came across me. I smelled him and heard him but I could never figure out exactly where to point my head. That's how he figured I was without sight, though he did ask me to confirm. I didn't want a potential predator to know my weakness but I answered in the affirmative. Only later would I learn that when I was that young, we were just about the same size.
He led me here, to the wasteland, and to Astaral and the rest. It's here that I learned to live. I can hunt and fight without aid now; I can even fly, though my wings aren't made for long expeditions. Those who do not know me are unaware of my weakness because I still find them with ease.
A living shadow tried to approach me one day and was taken aback when I noticed it before it could attack. I would have initiated battle had it not entered a more passive state once it realized I could not be fooled by its intangibility. We met often after that, gaining one another's trust over time.
I call him Shadow, because that's what he is. He finds things for me, sometimes, and gives them to me so that I may add them to the hoard. The others describe him to me in detail, when they see him; they say he is called an "Umbra Wolf." I don't quite know what a wolf is, but he's let me put my paws and tail on his body, when it's solid. I have an idea in my mind of what the others may see. To me, he is a scent and a presence.
