Biography

Avari has had a lot happened to him. Caught, imprisoned, his mind wiped clean, and then every memory rushing back to him in a violent surge that made him bed ridden. A lot of things happened to Avari that would make most think he'd try and slaughter every member of the clan...yet he didn't. He continues to work in the kitchen, a snarky, back talking thing that everyone adores. Why he went from no talking, to being alarmingly scattered and friendly, to sassy and stand offish is anyone's guess, but he's still a loved member of the clan. What he went through, only he knows....and he tells no one.

Quote:
He fought tooth and nail against the mental bindings he was trapped behind, doing all he could to take back control of his own mind and body, but Lykaia's bindings were always just strong enough to keep him at bay. Avari continued to fight though, to claw and push against them until he was free, until he had a chance...and he got that chance. Lykaia had to leave the clan one day, something about trouble with old friends, and promises to make things right. He didn't care, she could rot for all that he cared. But with her gone, she couldn't keep up the bindings. Sure, she made sure it was built up enough for it to keep hold while she was gone, but she was gone longer than she had intended, something Avari was hoping and counting on. After fighting and pushing, he felt it give. He felt it crack and crumble. He was free. Rage fueled him, over powered him. He would kill everyone here, and then he'd find that she demon...and he'd make her pay. Someone though, seemed to notice the change. Someone invaded his mind again before he fully woke. A friend of Lykaia? Another dream eater? He didn't know who it was, but they made that filthy imperial's magic look like a hatchling's first attempt. Her being in his mind alone forced his body to go stiff, his mind to numb. He remembers opening his mouth, he remembered screaming as hard as he could and nothing coming out...then he remembers waking up.

He didn't remember much else. Who was he...Avari, right!...Where was he? In...his clan. Eden! Yes! What..what does he do? Oh yes! He skins and prepares the hunts!

Avari woke up with no past memories...only the memories he made here. He remembered being...angry about something? But he just couldn't recall what. He had dreams about mindscapes, monsters, bars and spiraling madness and darkness...but he shrugged them off as bad dreams. despite how bad they ate at him. His troubles were obvious to his fellow kitchen staff and even a few other clan mates picked up that something was wrong with him. They did all they could to help him, make him happy and take his mind off it. And honestly? It meant the world to him. He couldn't recall all that happened, but he was happy, that much he knew. The clan was peaceful and warm, yet strong. He was treated well and with respect. He smiled and laughed everyday. He was....happy.

Then it all came back

Like a horrible surge of water, a overwhelming cascade rushed over him one night, so dense and consuming he thought he'd die in his sleep. But then it all came back...memories. His mother, father, his teaching, his old ambitions. What she did...who he was. It wracked him so heavily to his core he couldn't move. "I'm just ill..." was what he told every dragon that came to see him. "I just need rest" was what he told every healer than tried to treat him before turning them away. But the truth? Every night, he'd silently slip into the minds of dragons, trying to find the one who had trapped him a second time, and then be wracked with guilt when all he saw were sweet dreams, happy memories, or past traumas of their own. And why? He was caught in a war with himself.

"How dare they, how dare SHE? They know, they all knew!"

"You know them, they couldn't have, they never knew it happened..."

"They're all liars! Anyone of them could have been that second invader!"

"You saw! You invaded their most private and cherished space and and saw nothing!"

"They're hiding it! You know they are! Anyone skilled enough to trap us easily could!"

"Or they could be showing the truth! They could just love you!!"

"They're liars! JAILERS!"

"They're our friends! OUR FAMILY!"

"We could rule the WORLD. We could have endless POWER by now!"

Avari fought himself, viciously for a week, so terribly he was afraid he was gonna lose his mind...until a visitor came. The clan's mother came, her eyes and voice dripping with genuine worry and concern. She stayed with him that night, speaking to him softly and gently, telling him about the day's activities, how everyone was and what they did...and how they all missed him dearly. When night fell, she fell asleep by his side, like a fretful mother would with their own sick hatchling.

"You could kill her you know, it'd be EASY. She'd be the first."

"Shut up."

"Or better yet! Make her a puppet too! This clan loves her, fawns over her so mindlessly and loyally...they'd all walk themselves off a cliff if she wished it!"

"Shut. Up."

"You'd rule! You'd have this WHOLE clan under your claw! And several others! She's wasting so much valuable strength keeping her clan 'peaceful and happy! WE would know how to use it! We'd put it to good use! SHE doesn't deserve it like WE do!"

"SHUT UP."
'We love you'

Those words echoed over and over in his head. It's what she told him before she fell asleep...what she said when she thought HE was asleep. And it was the final straw...the last push.

When Avari woke up, he was better. He thanked Terra, and went back to work. He talked, joked, and laughed...but something seemed off. "It's just a bad headache...I was, uh, always prone to bad ones, they got worse recently though so...don't worry about it."

Of course they worried though. He knew they would. And he loved the numbskulls for it. He loved them all, even if he didn't show it as openly. But they didn't doubt it. He showed it in his little ways.

Not knowing it was his love for them that held a beast back every night.

Quote:
A promising Dream walker. A dream eater with nothing but potential, if not a bit over confident. But can you blame him? He's was born of and taught by the best. His own blood flowing with the promise of great strength and power of the mind. He traveled far and wide, testing his abilities; From simply walking along and slipping into the sleeping minds of dragons or other sentient beasts he'd cross paths with, to even devouring a simple dream or two. But just as he was told, as he was promised, his powers grew, and he truly wanted to put it to the test.

He had found a 'perfect' test subject. Someone who's mind was already wracked and haunted by past horrors and traumas. A mind that was already so fragile, it shouldn't have been TOO hard to test his strength and theories on. What he didn't expect, is a dragon who had similar abilities. A dragon that was familiar with the mindscape, and a dragon who has dealt with his kind before. He didn't expect a dragon who was able to feel and recognize when an unwelcome guest was weaseling their way into her mind. He didn't expect her ferocious will. He didn't except such wrath. He didn't even fathom that there might be someone greater than him.

"What a vile little thing you are....nosing around places that don't belong to you. But don't worry, death would be too easy and kind a punishment for someone like you...but letting something like you roam around freely? Now...that'd just be far too dangerous now, wouldn't it?"

No one questioned their new clanmate too much. After all, Lykaia herself spoke on their behalf. He just wanted a nice, new home, and was more than happy to simply work in the kitchen, and help skin and cut up hunts. After all, he's far to eager to please. Always smiling, always nodding. He's such a pleasant thing

No one would even think to look for the screaming behind his eyes.

Avari was born with a great power that will only grow greater. He is a Dream Walker, able to slip and wander through the dream's of sleeping hosts. He observes in a silent fashion, unable to affect the dreamscape's reality. For now. One day, when his power fully matures, he will become a Dream Devourer, a beast whose very energy and life force comes from both inflicting nightmares and devouring the consciousness of dreamers. One day, his power will be enormous and he will be able to tear minds to shreds with his special brand of magic and energy.

But Avari simply isn't sure how much he wants that. Mentored from a young age by his Devourer mother, he has certainly seen a Devourer in action before. He will not deny it is impressive, but he cannot help but wonder if there is another way to cause such a nightmarish sight. A few words strung together. A push, oh so gentle, at the host's psyche. Carefully, gently, turning and just slightly tempting a dreamscape rather than ripping across it, just enough so that the host tears its own might to shreds. Yes, that is a sight Avari longs to see.

Average Potential (10): The Priest has read the bones and sees nothing out of the ordinary. The link to their deity is as strong as any other dragon, and the power and magic they conjure is the same.
