Arcana




A dragon cannot change their inborn element. It is a simple fact, a natural law, that one's innate alignment remain the same for their entire lifetime.
The being now known as Arcana found this to be a tricky problem with a simple solution. Why bother to break Sorineth's natural laws when one can enter a realm where they don't apply?

Arcana was once a skilled Lightning engineer. All her life, she honed her craft with the utmost dedication, completely certain that mechanical work was the one true love of her life. But, one day, she had a chance to enter the Starwood Strand, and once she bore witness the infinite beauty of the arcane, her mind was changed forevermore.

Arcana's skills and nicely-structured life in the Shifting Expanse, once a subject of pride, suddenly seemed like a miserable toil. She soon became obsessed with arcane magic, but despite the countless days and nights spent studying the subject, she found herself held back by the circumstances of her birth. As a Lightning dragon, Arcana simply could not wield Arcane magic - an issue she desperately sought to fix. Working tirelessly, she drove herself to madness, dedicating every waking moment to an impossible task: to change her elemental affinity entirely.

Some might be tempted to say that she succeeded.
