Biography
A member of Spinehome. Ahti left home on his own when he came of age-- Clan Portum was home, but it was familiar, and he didn't want to live life forever being known as the child of the founder. He wandered west initially, into Plague territory, and become very ill shortly after his arrival.
The lack of good food combined with this sickness very nearly killed the young Wildclaw. Possibly only hours before he would have succumbed, starving and delirious, he was found by Leucetius on a scouting mission and taken in, placed in the Boneyard Division of the organization's labs. At first, he was allowed to recuperate. The experiments began later.
Ahti's holding cell was placed right next to Grenadier's, the Coatl who was being forced to create chemical compounds for DERG. Their gradually-worsening situation pushed the two closer, eventually leading to a strange sort of friendship and sad camaraderie. Ahti doesn't approve of what Grenadier did- he's heard the story in full from the scientists and the Coatl grudgingly admitted it was true- but beggars, and experiments, can't be choosers when it comes to allies.
Ahti was mostly used to test immunization and cures, magical and otherwise. He's suffered from several diseases and been cured of them all, often due to some compound Grenadier was coerced into making. By this point, he really is practically immune to most of what he encounters, though the process left him relatively weak, unable to fly, and with difficulties accessing his magic consciously. One particularly nasty magical sickness, however, nearly killed him but left him with the odd ability to de- and re-construct himself, essentially becoming a thick bluish-grayish smoke for short periods of time. No dragon had ever survived that particular malady before and the DERG scientists had no idea about the side effects, meaning they didn't expect Ahti to eventually use it to escape.
The Wildclaw tried to take Grenadier with him, but was unable to pick the lock and was forced to flee. He managed to get out alive- barely- and traveled away from the Boneyard without stopping. He collapsed somewhere within the realms of Shadow. By pure chance, he was then picked up by the Cult of the Deep Blue, who nursed him back to health and, upon hearing his story, had someone from Spinehome pick him up. He has remained there since, trying to harness his smoking ability as well as learn how to fight properly, so that he may one day join the clan guard and fight his way back to the Boneyard Division, hopefully saving Grenadier in the process.
