The Encounter

With a wheeze Xamax came to. He surveyed the land around him without lifting his head from the waterlogged ground. The world around him was spinning making it impossible to gather his bearings. There was a terrible ringing in his ears and every part of his body was sore. Xamax was so out of it he did not even pick up on all the brambles digging into his bloodied form. He laid in the darkness of the Tangled Woods for an unquantifiable time. At some point the sound of movement in the nearby area caused the injured dragon to lift his head. The cracking of his bones felt impossibly loud on his sensitive ears. Before him appeared a tundra adorned in layers of fabric. Xamax let out a hiss that was more beast clan than dragon.

The tundra seemed unafraid as she shortened the distance between the two. Her words muddled and foreign to the small imperial. It took a considerable amount of time but Xamax finally relented in his snappish behavior. She slowly reached for him and helped him to his feet. The tundra grunted struggling under his dead weight. With faltering steps from the imperial’s side they trugged out of the darkness and mud of the forest and into the warm harden earth of the Scarred Wasteland. Xamax was forced to shut his pupiless eyes. This world was much brighter than any of the short memories he could scratch at. He spent most of the trip through the wandering contagion with his eyes closed teetering on unconsciousness.

Awakening in a den not made of twisted thorns and mud Xamax rose ready to flee. A low growl escaped his parched throat when another dragon approached him. The guardian spoke softly as if to placate him but this only caused the barbed imperial to be more antsy. When the tundra from before entered the den Xamax finally relented. Her scent a familiarity when all else was already gone. The cakes of dirt and blood had been cleaned off his scales. Strange white cloth smelling of flora was wrapped tightly around his body. That along with the herbs hanging from the ceiling attacked Xamax’s senses with how alien it all was. Xamax finally relaxed, allowing his tired body to lay back down in the nest made of dried grass and moss.

_Gaining Favor_

____Xamax had been with the clan long enough to have picked up on the tongue they speak. Certain words and many of the traditions and tendencies went over his head but he had become comfortable in the rotting grounds. He had even gained favor from the Clan’s leader with how quick he picked up on fighting techniques. It had certainly astonished Vincent the first time he saw the unusually small imperial in battle against the hated Beastclan. Whenever Xamax saw the putrid creatures he was filled with a great bloodthirst.

____This bloodthirst allowed for him to rise up the ranks and gain officially the title of Major General. It may have been his official title but the clan knew what he really was. A dragon who had paved his way through death and pain. They knew he could be bought to take out members of even allying Plague clans. Some suspected he would do the same to them. Even with this known reputation Xander was willing to let the imperial go through unconventional methods to extract information from war criminals or anyone deemed containing intel the clan desired. He seemed one of the few not wary of Xamax’s loyalty.

_Finding Meaning_

____One dragon was looked upon with greater reverence than any other. Ulofix had become mates with the disjointed imperial. The way the two dragons clung to each other concerned a few others. They were inseparable and the looks they gave others when trying to speak to one and not the other was beyond the term ‘threatening.’ Xamax brought out a side of Ulofix the clan had not seen before. Never had the buff tundra smiled so freely. It would have been sweet if not so disturbing.

____Xamax had been more than clear of his love of the Tundra. He never hesitated to raise his claws and clamp his jaws on any he saw as insulting her. This is how the Clan found themselves mourning for Xaria. She had been an ambassador of the Lightning flight who stayed with the clan for months assisting in fighting off Beast Clan and discussing ways to improve the efficiency of the clan. Xander had shown great displeasure at the action. To this day the rest of the clan does not know what terrible punishment he placed on the imperial to subdue his outbursts.
