Nicholas

A guardian dragon with down-curling horns and deformed, oversized hind feet- each with two thick, stiff-tipped, hooflike toes. Strange things happen around him constantly, which combined with his odd mannerisms gives him a reputation for causing bad luck. He oversees one of the mining sites in East Empatheia and seems to enjoy his job.

10/10/17 - Sigurd steals one of her children out of Dullmist, retreating to the other end of Empatheia with him. She names him Nicholas.
10/30/17 - The West Empatheian silver mines experience a series of stability-related incidents.
3/13-15/18 - Nicholas helps to recover a lost band of miners in the Empatheian silver mines. The collapsed portion of the mine is investigated, then sealed off.
3/16/18 - Tyrrel awards a strange, robotic dragon found in the mines, "Forge", to Nicholas. The latter suspects this was to keep it out of the hands of House Faust.
9/15/19 - Nicholas and Forge discuss means of income, and the two agree that it would be good to have the latter register to assist in House Faust's scientific surveys. Forge receives his first assignment, which stretches out into autumn and pays fairly well for its duration.
10/9/19 - Forge returns unexpectedly and in pieces, borne back by a female Clan Railclaw scout. The two had similar goals in venturing to Rotrock Rim, but the scout explains that the construct's wooden components had been eaten away by the miasma. Forge is still aware of his surroundings and confirms the scout's story, but without his wooden components he is unable to move on his own.
10/11/19 - Nicholas carries Forge to Boarshead, Empatheia. He meets with Lord Delirio, as Forge mysteriously seems to have acquired enough religious significance to be declared a relic and Nicholas now needs the lord's approval to transport the disassembled construct outside of the country. The three of them all find the situation rather silly, but Delirio happily grants the request and Nicholas proceeds to the now independent Sorrowton to see about replacement parts.
10/17/19 - Nicholas arrives in Sorrowton, and meets Tyrrel there while on the way to Tinctorius's garden. He stays the next few nights with the older guardian, but his concerns are brushed off when he notes the fellow's fading health.
12/24/19 - Tinctorius sends Forge and Nicholas back to Empatheia with a few baskets of preserved fruit, a letter to deliver back to Delirio, and additional replacement parts in case Forge's new ones should wear out early.
4/3/20 - A letter arrives in Empatheia, addressed from Delirio rather generally to House Steel's smiths, architects and other assorted craftsmen. He demands that a temple be built for the old gods of Pigsburrow and their allied tribes. Cries of blasphemy abound, but nonetheless the construction is soon underway.
