Biography
POLYXENES
eastern black swallowtail
THE FLORIST
eastern black swallowtail
THE FLORIST
While Jade tends to Ena's herbs and Base watches over the medicinal plants growing in the far corner of Brightclaw land, Polyxenes' plots are more accessible and overflowing with decorative plants and flowers. It's not uncommon to find other dragons lounging among his gardens as a form of aromatherapy and then repaying him in labor, usually just weeding or laying fertilizer; Xenes is a bit picky when it comes to pruning, planting, and pollination, so he handles those tasks himself. When it comes time to harvest, Xenes enchants his blooms to keep them from wilting before presenting them to clanmates: he enjoys adorning friends with flower crowns, leis, and clouds of enchanted petals, even cultivating rose vines for those who ask. Some other dragons don't understand why Polyxenes is so committed to tending his garden manually when his nature magic is so potent, but Xenes believes in the value of hard, honest work, especially when it comes to his plants. Sure, he'll use his magic to keep the cut flowers from wilting, but there's nothing more rewarding than watching a flower go from sprout to bud to bloom, and that's why Polyxenes works so hard. He also wants to be there to take care of his mate; when her head aches from listening to the Arcanist, Meri often brings Wisp to the garden, where the sisters can find peace among the growth and the soft floral scents, and Xenes can watch over them. Polyxenes got close to Jade after the young Spiral's change: neither of them exactly understood what had happened with the golem, but Xenes was happy to help him get accustomed to the sapling body, using his magic to help make the wood more flexible and the leaves stronger. Jade appreciates Polyxenes' help, coming to him periodically for another dose of magic, and to share tidbits about their gardens with each other. |
