Manha was born into poverty, her colours a mockery of the gold her parents did not have. Her parents did their best to provide for her but sometimes it was just not enough and the Skydancer became intimate with the feeling of clawing hunger. But she saw her parents woes and did her best to create a better life for her family, she visited the public libraries and taught herself how to read and write. She found small, underpaid jobs in administration and every penny went to her parents. The first time she brought home her pay, her mother cried.
Soon after she took up a travelling job keeping track of a merchant's wares and found herself in a lair on a plateau in the Wind Flight. There, she made friends for the first time in her life and she grew to dread the day she'd be forced to leave. However, the Matriarch herself came and visited her, offering her a job as the clan scribe. As part of her job she'd have to attend meetings, keep track of visitors of the lair including any dignitaries and help write speeches. Needless to say, Manha was dumbfounded by the offer but was earnest to accept it. She was also delighted to find out her pay was extremely generous and started sending half back to her parents, who promised to come visit her when they could.
