Dainty and egotistical, Melody prides herself on being a rare breed, much to the annoyance of other dragons. She typically only associates with the "rarer" breeds, such as Aka, October and Yurallia (who accepts her friendship, although she gets embarrassed by her easily). Melody has a bit more respect than she'll let on for the more common breeds, treating Hallow and Eve with plenty of respect. Her egotistical attitude constantly angers Cass.
Despite her preference for Seafood, she's a natural at catching insects. She is the head of the Insect Finding division for a reason, and despite her bad attitude, Melody is good at her job. It is implied that Melody was raised in a rather sheltered environment of Coatls, and while she is good at finding bugs, she lacks many other skills for basic survival, including tact. For this reason, she remains in the Azeryx Clan, knowing that despite the fact that she puts on a big show, she's not as good as she claims to be. Melody is perfectly fine with killing insects and eating dead animals, but finds actual warriors and guards to be barbaric.
No one knows exactly WHY Lumiyo and Melody are mates, but they are an odd couple nonetheless. Melody often appears to boss around Lumiyo, demanding him to do this and that for her, but Lumiyo is usually relatively unfazed by her constant squawking. Lumiyo is also one of the few dragons in the Clan (besides the founders) who can effectively shut down Melody and put her in her place. Perhaps THAT'S why she likes him so much...
She gets along with the other Coatls and Wildclaws, as well as the Imperials, Nocturnes and Skydancers. She gets on the nerves of a lot of Common breeds, having an especially rough relationship with Cass and Ravage.
