Howdy partner! Are you lost?
Howdy partner! Are you lost?

Knox has been an outlaw for a long time. Being orphaned rather young and on the weaker end of the gene pool meant that he had to be clever in order to survive. In his younger years he would move from pack to pack, always on his toes and searching for the next best thing. No one really noticed when he would slip away and he preferred it that way. He tended to get on other people's nerves due to his happy-go-lucky attitude and carefree way of looking at things. His cheerful outlook was often mistaken for weakness in the rough crowds he hung out with and so it was probably a relief when they'd wake up or turn around and see that he was missing. Eventually, however, Knox ended up in the wrong gang. A nasty group of dragons who teased and pushed him around, forcing him to do all the things they didn't want to do. He was their glorified errand boy and useful in the sense that he was a pushover that never really complained. Several times he tried to leave and every single time they dragged him back in. Knox was miserable, spending most of his downtime on his own collecting junk to tinker with in order to take his mind off of all the ********. One day, Knox was "promoted" to explosives expert. He had some experience working with dangerous materials and dynamite and was also considered disposable, so it was perfect for him really. There was one job that would finally change his life for the better, even if it didn't seem that way at first. His gang (known as the Lost Boys) got a tip that the Sawyer gang would be coming through their territory soon. The Lost Boys saw it as an opportunity to elevate their status among rival gangs as well as a chance to take the large amount of money they supposedly had on them. With the plan set and their minds made up, Knox was sent to plant the dynamite that would be used to trap the Sawyer gang in the valley they were passing through. Everything was going according to plan and the trap was set. Unfortunately, however, the dynamite they were using ended up being a bad batch and instead of trapping Mordecai and his gang, Knox lost his right leg from the knee down. Instead of sticking around to help him, the Lost Boys fled, leaving him to die either by blood loss or at an angry Mordecai's hand. And angry Mordecai was. The Sawyer gang captured him and dragged him back to their camp, keeping him alive in order to question him. It didn't take much convincing for Knox the spill the beans on his old gang. He told Mordecai everything he wanted to know, explaining that there was no love lost between him and his former "friends". Next came the decision on what to do with him. Azazel insisted that they kill him and leave him for the buzzards. Baphomet reasoned that they should keep him around just in case they needed him for information later on down the line. And Mordecai, well, he was torn. Knox seemed genuine in his distaste for his former gang but there was no denying that he'd still gone along with their plan. Instead of killing him outright like Az wanted, Mordecai decided to keep him around a while longer. A month turned into a couple of months and a couple turned into six. Over time Knox had proved himself as useful to have around and loyal to boot. There were plenty of times where Mordecai gave him every opportunity to leave but he never did. He stuck around and that was that. Mordy would reason that there was no point in trying to be rid of him anyway, he'd just come back like a wayward dog looking for a pat on the head. Knox ended up replacing his missing leg with a prosthetic of his own design, fashioned out of the junk he found during their travels. His skill with explosives continued to improve at the cost of losing another limb, this time his right arm. Nowadays since they've moved into the gorge the need for explosives isn't as in-demand so, instead, he does his part as one of the gang's lookouts and hunters. Even with his prosthetics, he's still quite nimble and good with a bow. Able to climb up into any tree and keep up with the rest of the lookouts just fine. When he isn't doing his job he's either hunting for junk to add to his beloved collection or bugging Holland in the saloon. Holland hates just about everyone but Knox has grown on him like a fungus so he puts up with his yammering and lets him hang around. Even if he is annoying. More recently Knox has found a new job in the form of the gang's head weapons crafter. He's put his junk to use and comes up with all sorts of nifty new things to help the gang kill better. He's not alone in this new endeavor either. Harper works alongside him both as an assistant and a weapon crafter in her own right. They inspire each other and Knox is glad to have her help and company. SEXUALITY: Bisexual RELATIONSHIPS: Freyja BELONGINGS: • The harmonica gifted to him by Gavin. • His bow and quiver. He makes his own arrows because he's quite particular about the size and weight of them. • A pile of junk that he's scavenged and uses to craft little inventions. Jed has allowed him to keep his treasures in one of the barns he doesn't use much. OTHER BITS OF INFO: • Knox's family name is Grimes. • He has a pet rat named Pestilence that he keeps on his person at all times. • Knox isn't a huge fan of violence and hates being forced into conflict. That's not to say he isn't capable or willing to fight- he has to as he lives an outlaw life- but he takes no real joy in it. • He plays the harmonica and was taught how to by Gavin. |
