"My only weakness was my drive for more knowledge of the rightly forgotten." ╰━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╯ Once a valiant captain of a pirate ship named "Runewind", Beverly was broadly feared by all on the ocean for her craftiness, expertise, and drive to get what she sought after. In any case, all of that? None of it occurred in Sornieth. No. She was a human in a different universe and one of few captains that searched out not treasure, but rather knowledge. Her entire crew knew it, however they remained by her nonetheless. That is, until the day she found a cave in the center of 5 islands known as 'Black-Veil Run'. It was regular for boats to vanish in the run looking for famous fortune inside the cave, however there were no remaining parts of any boats that could be seen off the bow of Runewind. They sailed on without knowing the perils that await them in the cave. When they were near the central island, the anchor was brought down and Beverly brought a few her crew members to investigate with her. Her pick's rope curled against her side and torches in her men's hands, she headed inside, watchful with where she ventured. When only she was inside the cave, something fixed the passage close, trapping her inside and her men out. She was compelled to wander oblivious and felt eyes peering into her as she walked, yet there were no indications of movement anywhere. Not a peep, a scuttle, or even a draft. That was when she heard it... a whisper. Somebody whispered a solitary question nearby, "I'm lost... Can you get me back home?" Glancing around wildly, there were still no indications of light and there was no turning back in the darkness. "How would I get there?..." Beverly asked accordingly, practically in a whisper. This time it wasn't a voice that met hers, yet a push. She was shoved forward by what felt like a couple of hands against her back and tumbled to the floor. Beverly had hit her head on a rock and fell unconscious, the last thing she heard was the entrance opening and the cave echoing her crew's cries to locate their missing captain. When her search party arrived, the only thing left of her was a blood-soaked rock. Everybody on the ship searched the dark cave system for days without any results. Their captain had vanished without any trace as to where she had gone. Some believed she arranged this, some assume the cave was haunted or cursed and a ghost had stolen her away; past theories and nonsense, the truth was that she's never going back to her ship. A terrifying being from a different universe took her and didn't anticipate taking her back. |

There were paws and striped hide staring her in the face and up her arm. She was covered in fur and had developed wings to boot! Lurching to a nearby waterway, she gazed down at her appearance in silent horror. The past red headed human captain was presently a tan mythical beast with feathered wings! And not just that, a large portion of her head was scorched dark bone with sparkling yellow specs for eyes. That is the point at which she saw it, the blaze of a shadow moving behind her. She recognized what it was when she saw it, regardless if it was just for a minute. It was the thing that brought her here. When it had gone, her vision flashed out for a moment and her sockets and mouth began dripping a tasteless black ooze. Glancing around, the captain realized that she was not where she had left. She didn't recognize the landscape. There were ruins close by canvassed in a thick haze that resembled nothing she'd ever seen. Where was she? Beverly contemplated being a dragon, however as time passed by her gazing at her environment and herself, it turned into her new reality. This is the end for the pirate as a human... and the start for her as a wyrm corrupted by the shade. She didn't know where to turn in this new world, but as soon as she got used to her new legs, she started walking. She followed the river to a place she found to be called 'The Sea of a Thousand Currents'. |
