Zalt is a wandering warrior. He's spent his entire life on the battlefield, accumulating scars as he traveled from place to place in search of a home.
He began life as all plague dragons do, born into the desolate and unforgiving Scarred Wastelands. The harshness of the Plaguebringer's domain molded him, making him strong, though it came at the expense of sentiment. He quickly grew into a strong and talented warrior, one of the best in the clan. He also grew without pity or tenderness in his heart, not because of his own nature, but because it was necessary to survive.

His life was harsh yet simple, but it was not destined to last. His home clan was small, making it easy pickings for rivals and enemies. They were not wiped out, but their did eventually scatter.

Some joined larger clans for protection, but some, like Zalt, chose instead to wander. His pride would not allow him to bow to a new clan leader, especially when his devotion was bought by strength of character, not by power. He had plenty of power in his own right. Unwilling to submit to a stranger of unknown morals and substance, Zalt was on his own.

In his travels, he was forced to fight each and every day for survival. He grew stronger and more experienced with each passing day, but without a clan to protect, he began to lose his sense of purpose.

On the day of his outset, however, he discovered something that gave his hardening heart the hope it needed. On the edge of the abiding boneyard, he found a white bird sitting on a stone. While his initial instinct was to eat it, he couldn't help but nothing something about it. The dove was weary, presumably after flying a great distance. It looked to be in good health, but it was overcome with fatigue.

That gave Zalt unexpected pause. The bird reminded him of himself, wandering tirelessly to the point of collapse. Rather than attacking, he protected the dove while it recovered. He even offered it a little bit of food. In return for the kindness, the dove has stayed at his side ever since. It is his symbol of hope, and in many ways, it is his only friend.

Zalt and his companion eventually left the wastelands, eventually landing with their current clan. He was accepted, and he has since made great efforts to fit into his new home. Civilian life is difficult for a career warrior, but Zalt desperately wants to put that part of his life behind him. He wants to live peacefully now, in one place, with one family that he can trust. That's all he's ever really wanted.
