Biography

Older than dirt and more reclusive than the most elusive spiders; his very existence is debated by younglings as they exchange tales of clan history passed down from parent and grandparent.

But those of the clan who've dared sought his mystic medicines or arcane secrets know with certainty that the dark shadow they thought they saw deep within the woods, the scent of decaying bracken or the near imperceptible sound of feathered wings carried by the wind, are no trick of the light nor sudden lapse in dragon sanity.

He is there, watching as dragons play and fight and feast about him. Detached, observant, ambivalent to the goings on of their small, sheltered lives. Yet for reasons even he could not say, he would not, could not, allow for a single one of them to come to harm. The dragons belonging to this clan to which he himself ascribes for whatever reason are precious to him, though he's long-since forgotten what it means to have anyone close, to let any dragon know him or to know them.

Still, he watches. Nothing of his presence apparent except for the rustle of dead leaves or the startled hoot of an owl. He watches and he protects them from threats they will never even know. For somewhere there still beats in his chest a heart that remembers things like loyalty and friendship and love.
