He/they Starset - Telescope • The Home We Made - Crywolf Factionless • The Guardian Demon ____________________ Far beyond the ruins of the library, a demonic creature lurks. A small dark shape flits between the trees, colorless eyes watching the trails in and out relentlessly. He has never shown himself to the members of the Aehan Clan, but occasionally newcomers who arrive speak of a black Coatl with a dark aura and strange eyes. Melancholy is quite relaxed about the demon's presence, stating that 'not all demons are bad, and that he doesn't seem to want to harm us.' Maple's opinion is a little more harsh, and it is suspected that if the two met, it would either end with the demon being driven off, or killed. And if the quiet little tattoo artist Kyuu is asked about his opinion on the matter, he goes strangely quiet. Memories are harsh, after all. |

I hadn't meant to hurt you. I didn't know what I was doing. That beautiful pastel Coatl was my everything, my savior. You were the one who convinced them to give me a chance, that their whole philosophy was to provide sanctuary to those who were different. Even if they were a demon. You were so gentle and patient with me, giving me space when I needed it. But you were also so curious, constantly asking questions about me. About my life before. You gave me my first tattoo. It was your first too, at least, on living (or not so living) flesh. When you were done, white and silver flowers trailed up my dark wing. Gods, I loved you. But the other two demons told me I would do nothing but hurt you, that I would be better off with my own kind. I shouldn't have listened. |

It was years after that I saw you again. I hadn't expected to find your Clan among the Tangled Woods- they were dragons of light, of beauty. But I suppose desperate times call for desperate measures, as it was in your case. And you were certainly different, dark colors staining your previously pastel fur and feathers. You wore a blindfold over your eyes, but at one point it slipped, and I saw it. Your perfect, green eyes were the same emotionless horror as mine. I cried that night, curled up in a ball in my tree trunk. Ever since then, I've been keeping track of you. The other two demons left me long ago, claiming I was too weak. Maybe I am. But I'm trying to make it up to you. I will be your first line of defense, I will sacrifice myself to keep your Clan safe. Your Clanmates are growing suspicious. I can see it in their eyes. Although they're surrounded by spirits and ghosts, the aura of a demon is vastly different. The silver Skydancer seems the most affected. She's been taking a lot of walks lately, veering closer and closer to my tree. I may have to move soon. Do you still remember me? Do you still remember my name? I remember yours, Kyuu. But I doubt you remember me. |
