Bara was raised by a secretive group. She never questioned any order she was given and became a mage to rival the strongest in the cult. One day she was woken by stabbing pain and realized the cult had chosen her for a sacrifice. The dragon she always called father looked at her with pity, "They have asked us to sacrifice something special. You are my most precious thing." She screamed and called for him to save her as the other dragons chained her in the middle of the frozen wasteland.

The fur around Bara's feet began collecting a large amount of snow. She thought about shaking it off but at this point there would be no reason. She was going to freeze to death alone if the creatures didn't kill her first. She curled up and watched her surroundings hoping someone would come to finish her off. The cold had never bothered her as much as it did now. It seemed to rake her throat with every breath.

Suddenly she saw a shape emerge from the snowstorm, but she was too tired to care. She would have used to care but the cold had a hold on her brain. "Hello friend. Are you hurt? Do you need my help?" She wasn't moving and when the figure nudged her, it noticed the chains wrapped around her and through her wings to the ground, "Gods!" The figure quickly tore at the chains finally freeing the freezing figure.

Bara slowly opened her eyes to find herself wrapped in a long cloak next to a smoldering fire. She slowly removed the garment as she realized that she was burning up under it. "Oh thank the Icewarden's fur you are alright." Bara jumped as a large Imperial holding a cup came into view. "I'msosorry! Ididn'twanttoscareyou," He shoved the cup at her and watched her as she took a sip. "My name is Perlanegra but you can call me Perlan." As he moved, Bara noticed his own chains wrapped around his wings.

"I thought that cult broke up." "Obviously not. This time they are shade bend on succeeding," Bara said grumpily. The dragons who had kidnapped her when she was just a hatchling and rised her as their own were known in the area but they were used as a scary story and less of an actual threat. No one knew that the still kidnapped dragons for their strange rituals.

"The child without a name grew up to be the hand
To watch you, to shield you or kill on demand
